Live performance festival at the Prieuré de Breuil in Commercy
The Bords de Scène Festival is a live performance event held every summer at the Prieuré de Breuil in Commercy, in the Meuse region. Organized by Compagnie Mavra, this week-long festival offers an eclectic program mixing theater, concerts, street performances, and friendly activities. From the Kermesse en Terrasses that opens the festivities to the Guinguette du Breuil that closes them, Bords de Scène takes over unusual venues in Commercy and its surroundings to create unique artistic encounters between artists and the public.
The Bords de Scène Festival, created and supported by Compagnie Mavra, has established itself as a major summer event in Commercy and the southern Meuse region. The event takes over the Prieuré de Breuil, a remarkable heritage site, and extends into the streets, squares, and unusual locations of the town and neighboring communes.
The festival spans an entire week, starting in late August, with a daily program that blends live performance disciplines:
Invited companies present original theatrical creations, often linked to literature or current events. The 2025 edition notably featured "Nos optimistes", a play inspired by Maupassant's writings, and "Je n'ai pas de projet professionnel", a graphic novel concert mixing comics and live music.
Music plays an important role in the program, with "concerts primeurs" (preview concerts) offered at the Commercy market and musical evenings in atypical venues like Aliénor's cottage in Lérouville ("Un soir au Cottage").
Two highlights frame the festival: the Kermesse en Terrasses (Terrace Fair) which opens the festivities on Sunday with a festive and popular atmosphere, and the Guinguette du Breuil (Breuil Beer Garden) which closes the week on Friday in a rustic garden party atmosphere by the water.
One of Bords de Scène's signatures is its use of unusual and varied locations: the Prieuré de Breuil, of course, but also the Commercy market, private cottages, gardens, and public spaces. This decentralized and community-focused approach allows it to reach diverse audiences and create intimate and surprising performance moments.
