Musical Saturdays in the courtyard of Château Stanislas in Commercy
The Festival l'Été chez Stan is a series of free concerts held every Saturday evening from July to the end of August in the courtyard of Château Stanislas in Commercy, Meuse. Organized by the Mairie de Commercy, this summer event offers eight concerts and an open-air cinema screening in an exceptional heritage setting. The eclectic program mixes French chanson, rock, world music, jazz, and tributes to great artists, offering a festive and friendly atmosphere accessible to all generations every weekend.
The Festival l'Été chez Stan transforms the majestic courtyard of the Château Stanislas in Commercy into an open-air concert stage every summer. Built in the 18th century for King Stanislas Leszczynski, former King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, this castle offers a grandiose architectural setting for these summer musical evenings.
Every Saturday evening at 9 PM, from early July to the end of August, a free concert is offered to residents and visitors. The program, intentionally eclectic, spans musical genres to appeal to the widest possible audience:
Bands like La Gâpette proudly represent festive and lively French chanson, in the great tradition of popular balls and guinguettes.
Rock bands like The One Armed Man or Celtic pop-rock groups like GrandLarge bring a more contemporary energy to the program.
Themed evenings, such as the Caribbean night with Morik or Latin and swing music concerts, open a window to sounds from around the world.
The festival regularly features tribute bands honoring great French artists, such as Il Suffira d'un Signe, a tribute to Jean-Jacques Goldman, which traditionally closes the season.
One evening is dedicated to an open-air cinema screening in the gardens of the Prieuré de Breuil, offering a cinematic interlude in the musical program.
The Château Stanislas in Commercy, with its 120-meter-long classical facade and French gardens, provides a unique setting for these summer evenings. The inner courtyard, surrounded by the castle wings, offers natural acoustics and an intimate atmosphere despite the grandeur of the place.
L'Été chez Stan has become a must-attend event in the summer life of Commercy and the southern Meuse region. Free and open to all, it contributes to the city's animation and the enhancement of its architectural heritage.
