The festival takes place on the Place de la Rivière in Malzéville, a town bordering Nancy to the north, a few minutes from the Nancy city center. The Place de la Rivière is the heart of Malzéville's public life.
The Place de la Rivière is transformed for the occasion into a large festive space, with a market of bakers and artisans in the center, stages for street performances and concerts, participatory workshops, and catering areas. The square is entirely pedestrianized during the festival.
The Fête des Pains takes place on a Sunday in October, usually the first Sunday of the month. Activities begin in the late morning and continue until late afternoon. Bread-making workshops and street performances start in the early afternoon.
The entire festival is completely free: free access to activities, participatory workshops, street performances, and concerts. Only food and purchases at the bakers' and artisans' market are paid. Bring cash for some small craft stalls.
The festival offers a rich and varied food selection, reflecting its multicultural character:
La Fête des Pains is an event particularly suitable for families. The bread-making workshops allow children to knead, shape, and bake their own bread. Puppet shows, magic shows, and fun activities are scheduled for young audiences throughout the day. The atmosphere is warm and safe.
