Fête des Pains — edition 2026

The Fête des Pains returns to Malzéville on Sunday, October 4th, 2026. The July 2026 municipal newsletter highlights an artisan and producer market, food stalls, street performances, live music, and creative, hands-on workshops. The full program has yet to be released.

2026 Edition

The date is set: Sunday, October 4th, 2026. It appears in the July 2026 issue of the municipal newsletter Malzéville durable et solidaire (No. 24), which promises an "artisan and producer market, food and gastronomy, street arts, music, and creative, participatory workshops," noting that the full schedule will follow.

As of mid-August 2026, no further details have been published regarding specific times, performers, or workshop specifics. The town removed the event's dedicated page during a recent website redesign, and the online calendar does not yet feature a 2026 entry.

Previous years offer a general idea, though they do not confirm details for 2026: the 32nd edition took place on October 6th, 2024, at Place de la Rivière from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission; the 31st edition, held on October 1st, 2023, took place around the town hall, La Douëra, and Place de la Rivière.

A community celebration of bread

The Fête des Pains is one of the major autumn events in Malzéville, a town bordering Nancy. It is held on a Sunday in early October at the Place de la Rivière and the surrounding streets, with free admission. Organized by the Town of Malzéville, the October 6, 2024 edition is the 32nd.

Artisan and producer market

Bakers, pastry chefs, producers, restaurateurs, and artisans set up their stalls on the square and nearby, typically from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Dining areas open around 11:30 AM, and the official inauguration takes place at noon at the Place de la Rivière.

Hands-on workshops

Workshops cover topics such as cooking, bread making, and food waste reduction. They are led by local Malzéville associations and groups, sometimes requiring advance booking. Some years also feature a roundtable discussion: food sobriety in 2023, and local complementary currencies in 2024.

Street arts and music

Street theater and circus troupes perform outdoors throughout the day, while roving musicians move from one area of the festival to another. In 2023, the event extended from the area around the town hall to the La Douëra park.
