Bread at the heart of the festival

For over 30 years, the Fête des Pains has been a highlight of life in Malzéville and one of the key events of the cultural season in this town bordering Nancy. This unique event celebrates bread, a universal food and symbol of sharing, through a festive, participatory, and multicultural day.

A market of flavors

The Fête des Pains brings together artisans and producers on the Place de la Rivière around the theme of bread and food trades:

  • Artisan bakers: bread-making demonstrations, sale of special breads, brioches, and pastries
  • Pastry chefs: sweet creations and artisanal treats
  • Local producers: farmers and producers from the Lorraine region
  • International cuisines: food stalls offering specialties from around the world, all related to bread or cereals
  • Artisans: creators and craftspeople showcasing their skills

Participatory workshops

The participatory aspect is at the heart of the event. Numerous workshops are offered:

  • Bread-making workshops: kneading, shaping, and baking bread for all ages
  • Creative workshops: manual activities related to food trades
  • Conferences: discussions on food, agriculture, and the challenges of the bread industry
  • Career paths: discovery of training and professions related to baking, pastry, and food crafts

Street arts and performances

The Fête des Pains is also an artistic event in its own right. The cultural program enriches the day:

  • Street performances: street theater companies, dance, acrobatics, and artistic parades
  • Concerts: live music groups in various styles (jazz, chanson, world music)
  • Activities: puppets, magic, and shows for children

A unifying event

The Fête des Pains is a moment of social cohesion that brings together all generations and cultures. Its free, participatory, and multicultural nature makes it a popular event far beyond Malzéville, attracting visitors from the entire Nancy metropolitan area.
