Francophone author-songwriting in Quercy Blanc
Created in 2005 in Montcuq by actor Henri Courseaux and the association Musique Cours et Granges, the Festival de la Chanson à Texte celebrates francophone author-songwriting every summer. For three days at the end of July, in the courtyard of the Jean-Jacques Faurie college, committed and poetic artists take turns on stage. Known for its demanding programming, warm and family-friendly welcome, the festival also offers morning encounters with artists and singing cafés open to emerging talents.
The Festival de la Chanson à Texte de Montcuq was born in 2005 from the meeting between actor Henri Courseaux, Claire de Villaret, and the association Musique Cours et Granges, founded around a private concert held in a courtyard in Quercy Blanc. The original idea: to offer three consecutive days of author-songwriting concerts, every summer at the end of July, in the enchanting setting of Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc.
Over the years, the festival has established itself as a benchmark for francophone author-songwriting, recognized for the quality of its programming. Under the artistic direction of Gérard Morel, who took the helm in 2020, the festival hosts established artists and young talents each year. Among the artists who have marked recent editions are Juliette, François Morel, Alexis HK, Benoît Dorémus, Chanson Plus Bifluorée, Steve Normandin, Govrache, Yoanna, and Lili Cros et Thierry Chazelle. The program mixes committed songwriters, stage poets, slam artists, and performers from diverse backgrounds, offering the public a unique musical experience.
Each day of the festival is punctuated by three highlights:
