CREACTIONS: Youth at the Heart of Artistic Creation

The CREACTIONS Festival is a unique event in Bar-le-Duc. Supported by the CTEAC (Territorial Contract for Artistic and Cultural Education), it places youth at the center of artistic creation by offering about ten days of shows, workshops, and presentations directly involving young people from the area.

A Festival of Creation and Sharing

The festival is structured around several complementary axes:

• Professional Shows: Professional companies present creations in theater, dance, circus, and performing arts in the venues and public spaces of Bar-le-Duc. The Théâtre (National Stage) notably hosts shows like "Rave Lucid" and other contemporary creations.
• Workshop Presentations: Throughout the year, cultural practice workshops are offered to young people aged 0 to 25. The festival is the time to share the results of this work with the public through about a dozen presentations.
• Exhibitions: Thematic exhibitions, such as "Le geste professionnel" at the Jean Jeukens media library, accompany the festival.
• Activities and Workshops: Five activities and workshops open to all complete the program.

About Twenty Venues Involved

CREACTIONS takes over the city of Bar-le-Duc by setting up in about twenty different locations, including five in public spaces. This dissemination throughout the city allows for reaching a wide audience and bringing artistic creation to life as close as possible to the residents:

• Le Théâtre – Scène nationale de Bar-le-Duc
• La Médiathèque Jean Jeukens
• Public spaces in the city center
• Schools, middle schools, and high schools
• Social and associative structures

1,200 Young Festival Actors

The strength of CREACTIONS lies in the active participation of 1,200 young people from all backgrounds and ages (0 to 25 years old). The festival embodies an approach to artistic and cultural education that aims to democratize access to culture, encourage artistic practice, and foster encounters between professional artists and young audiences.

CREACTIONS illustrates the commitment of the city of Bar-le-Duc and its partners to culture for all. The CTEAC mobilizes stakeholders in education, culture, and social services to build an ambitious artistic and cultural journey in the Barrois region.
