Festi'Cuivres: The Passion for Brass in Meuse
Born from the passion of a group of teachers for the brass family—instruments with a mouthpiece extended by a cylindrical or conical tube—Festi'Cuivres has established itself as an unmissable musical event in the Sud Meusien. Organized by ACDIM (Association for the Diffusion and Creation of Musical Initiatives), the festival has celebrated the richness and diversity of brass music for over twenty years.
A Traveling Festival in Sud Meuse
One of Festi'Cuivres' originalities lies in its traveling format. The concerts take place over several weeks, from January to February, in different towns in the Sud Meusien:
- Bar-le-Duc: Concerts at the CIM Auditorium and in other venues in the prefecture.
- Gondrecourt-le-Château: Concerts in this town of character.
- Commercy: Concerts in the town famous for its madeleines.
- Givrauval: Concerts in this rural commune with preserved charm.
- Ligny-en-Barrois: Concerts in the heart of this small historic town.
An Eclectic Program Centered on Brass
While brass music is the common thread of the festival, the program explores all facets of these instruments: classical music, jazz, contemporary music, brass band, fanfare, and original creations. The invited ensembles range from intimate duos to large ensembles, including brass quartets and quintets. The festival makes a point of presenting high-level artists, often members of major national and international orchestras.
Unique Musical Encounters
Each edition offers thematic concerts that renew the approach to brass music: crossovers with strings, dialogues between instruments, original creations, and repertoire pieces. The festival also promotes encounters between professional and amateur musicians, contributing to the training and development of musical practices in the region.
Strong Territorial Roots
Festi'Cuivres actively participates in the cultural life of the Sud Meusien by offering quality concerts in towns sometimes far from major urban centers. The festival contributes to democratizing access to live music in rural areas and to enhancing the heritage of the region's concert halls and venues.
