The best films of the year to (re)discover at Cinéma Scoop
The Cinéma Télérama/AFCAE Festival is a national film event organized every year in January since 1999 by Télérama magazine and the Association Française des Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai (AFCAE). In Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, Cinéma Scoop is one of the few cinemas in Haute-Loire to participate in this event. For a week, spectators can watch or rewatch a selection of the best films from the past year as well as a preview film, at a single price of 4 euros thanks to the Télérama pass. Cinéma Scoop, an Art and Essay cinema labeled "Jeune Public" and "Recherche et Découverte", with two screens of 71 and 125 seats, offers a demanding and open program throughout the year under the direction of Alain Déléage.
Every year in January, the Cinéma Scoop in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon participates in the Festival Cinéma Télérama/AFCAE, a national cinematic event that allows you to (re)discover the best films of the past year at an exceptional price. Created in 1999 by Télérama magazine and the Association Française des Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai (AFCAE), this festival takes place simultaneously in over 300 Art and Essay cinemas across France.
Cinéma Scoop is one of the few cinemas in Haute-Loire to participate in this national event. Located at 18 rue de la Poste, in the heart of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, this associative Art and Essay cinema has two digitized screens with 71 and 125 seats. Labeled "Jeune Public" and "Recherche et Découverte", it offers an ambitious program throughout the year focused on auteur cinema, research and new works, as well as films rarely distributed in France.
Under the direction of Alain Déléage, who served for 9 years on the national council of the AFCAE, Cinéma Scoop has established itself as a key cultural venue on the Vivarais-Lignon plateau. Beyond the Télérama Festival, it regularly organizes thematic cycles ("Cinema and Painting", "History and Cinema", "Literature and Cinema"), post-screening discussions, and school outreach programs.
The concept is simple and generous: the editorial team of Télérama selects the best films of the year, to which preview films have been added in recent years. For a week, spectators with the Télérama pass (available in the magazine, on the app, and on telerama.fr) can access all screenings at a single price of €4 per film. The pass is valid for two people, making it a particularly affordable cinema outing.
The festival's program reflects the diversity and excellence of world cinema: dramas, comedies, animated films, documentaries, award-winning films from major international festivals (Cannes, Venice, Berlin). Each year, the selection mixes French, European, and international cinema, offering a comprehensive panorama of contemporary cinematic creation. The preview films, chosen in consultation with the AFCAE, add a dimension of discovery and exclusivity.
The Télérama Festival is a highlight of the cinematic season in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon. It attracts a loyal audience, composed of local cinephiles and winter visitors, all united by a love for quality cinema. In the intimate atmosphere of Cinéma Scoop, at an altitude of 1,000 meters on the Haut-Lignon plateau, the festival offers an authentic and warm cinematic experience.
