The jazz event of the Grenoble metropolitan area

Created in 2005 by the Jazz Club de Grenoble, the Grenoble Alpes Métropole Jazz Festival has become over the years an essential event for jazz lovers in the Alps. Every autumn, for two weeks between late September and mid-October, the festival takes over about ten partner venues spread across eight to ten towns in the Grenoble metropolitan area, from Fontaine to Grenoble, including Échirolles, Saint-Martin-d'Hères, Meylan, Seyssinet-Pariset, and many other municipalities.

An eclectic and demanding program

The Grenoble Alpes Métropole Jazz Festival stands out for its program that embraces jazz in all its diversity. Each edition is structured around three complementary musical axes: international and multicultural jazz, with artists from all over the world; the French scene, which highlights the most promising talents and established artists of French jazz; and the local scene, which showcases musicians from the region who have gained regional or national recognition.

Over the years, the festival has hosted artists from very diverse backgrounds, mixing contemporary jazz, swing, bossa nova, Caribbean music, afro-jazz, soul, and funk. Masterclasses are regularly offered, allowing the public to learn or improve their skills alongside professional musicians. Jam sessions complete the program and offer privileged moments of sharing between artists and festival-goers.

A festival rooted in its territory

Supported by the association Jazz Club de Grenoble, founded in 1956 and entirely run by passionate volunteers, the festival is part of a cultural democratization initiative. By taking over municipal performance halls, MJCs (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture), and cultural spaces throughout the metropolitan area, it allows a wide audience to access quality concerts at affordable prices. This strong territorial presence, supported by Grenoble Alpes Métropole, makes this festival a unifying event that actively contributes to the cultural influence of the Grenoble metropolitan area.

More than twenty years of jazz in the Alps

Since its first edition in 2005, the Grenoble Alpes Métropole Jazz Festival has built a loyal and growing audience while constantly renewing its program. From intimate quartet performances to spectacular big bands, from jazz singers to virtuoso percussionists, each edition offers its share of discoveries and emotions. The festival thus contributes to keeping jazz alive in the Grenoble metropolitan area and to building bridges between musical cultures from around the world.

Jazz Festival Grenoble — edition 2026

22nd edition of the Grenoble Alpes Métropole Jazz Festival. The annual jazz event in the Grenoble metropolitan area returns for two weeks of concerts in the partner venues of the metropolitan area, with a program mixing international artists and the local scene.

22nd Edition: Jazz Returns to the Grenoble Metropolitan Area

The Grenoble Alpes Métropole Jazz Festival returns for its 22nd edition in the autumn of 2026. True to its usual schedule, the festival is expected to take place from late September to mid-October 2026 in the partner venues of the Grenoble metropolitan area.

Organized by the Jazz Club de Grenoble, an association founded in 1956, the festival will continue its mission of introducing jazz in all its forms to a wide audience. As every year, the program will be structured around three axes: international and multicultural jazz, the contemporary French scene, and local talents.

After a 21st edition dedicated to Brazil, this new edition promises new musical discoveries in about ten towns of the Grenoble metropolitan area. The full program will be unveiled during the summer of 2026 on the Jazz Club de Grenoble website.
