The eclecticism of the guitar under the centenary olive trees of Beaulieu-sur-Mer
Les Nuits Guitares is a music festival founded in 2000 in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Set in the sumptuous Jardin de l'Olivaie, a 6000 m² olive grove bordered by centenary olive trees between the cliff and the marina, the festival celebrates the guitar in all its forms: rock, blues, jazz, world music, and pop. The greatest guitarists in the world have performed there, from Joe Satriani to Al Di Meola, including Popa Chubby and Larry Carlton.
Created in 2000, the Les Nuits Guitares festival was founded with the ambition of giving Beaulieu-sur-Mer a strong cultural identity by associating this coastal town on the French Riviera with the king of rock and blues instruments: the guitar. For over twenty years, the festival has hosted the biggest names in world guitar in an exceptional natural setting, making Beaulieu-sur-Mer a must-visit destination for music lovers and six-string enthusiasts.
The Jardin de l'Olivaie is the heart and soul of the festival. This true olive grove of 6000 m² is home to over 100 centenary olive trees, nestled between the cliff and the large marina of Beaulieu-sur-Mer. This exceptional setting, bathed in the mild Mediterranean climate and sea breeze, offers remarkable natural acoustics and an intimate atmosphere that makes Les Nuits Guitares unique among festivals on the French Riviera.
Eclecticism is the watchword of the Les Nuits Guitares programming. Over the years, the festival has hosted guitar legends: Joe Satriani, Al Di Meola, Popa Chubby, Lucky Peterson, Calvin Russell, John Butler, Larry Carlton, Warren Haynes, and many other virtuosos. The festival appeals to all generations by opening its programming to the diversity of guitar styles, from blues to rock, from jazz to world music, including pop and reggae.
Since 2024, the festival has evolved under the name Beaulieu-la-Nuit, expanding its programming beyond just guitar to offer more varied contemporary music evenings, while retaining the festive spirit and artistic quality that have made its reputation. The 2024 edition notably featured the New Zealand band Fat Freddy's Drop as the headliner, confirming the festival's opening to new musical horizons.
Les Nuits Guitares contributes to the cultural influence of Beaulieu-sur-Mer and the French Riviera. The festival collaborates with the Tourist Office and local stakeholders to offer festival-goers a complete experience, combining quality music, Mediterranean gastronomy, and discovery of the coastal heritage. It is a summer event that attracts thousands of spectators each year from all over the French Riviera and beyond.
The Beaulieu-la-Nuit festival (formerly Les Nuits Guitares) is expected to return in August 2026 to the Jardin de l'Olivaie in Beaulieu-sur-Mer for a new open-air music event.
The festival takes place at the Jardin de l'Olivaie, Beaulieu-sur-Mer (06310), between Nice and Monaco.
Prices vary depending on the evenings and headliners. Evening passes from €25. Consult the website of the Beaulieu-sur-Mer Tourist Office.
