Festival de la Contemplation in Tauxigny-Saint-Bauld

The Festival de la Contemplation is a singular event that brings together art and astronomy at the Touraine Astronomical Observatory, located in Tauxigny-Saint-Bauld, in Indre-et-Loire. Since its creation in 2007, this festival offers a poetic encounter between arts and science, in a place chosen for the exceptional quality of its night sky.

An exceptional place for sky observation

The Tauxigny Observatory benefits from a remarkable environment: the town is one of the few in Touraine to be classified 4 stars for its sky quality, with minimal light pollution. This unique setting allows festival-goers to combine artistic pleasures and astronomical discoveries, observing the stars after the concerts.

A multidisciplinary program

Each edition of the Festival de la Contemplation brings together painters, musicians, photographers, sculptors, visual artists, actors, and poets around a common theme. The program includes:

• Outdoor concerts on an illuminated stage
• Visual art exhibitions in the observatory park
• Artistic and astronomical workshops for all ages
• Children's theater
• Themed and narrated hikes in the surrounding area
• Stargazing observation at the end of the evening

A grand concert under the stars

The highlight of the festival, the grand festive concert takes place in the evening on a magnificently lit stage, before the audience is invited to look up at the sky for an astronomical observation session guided by members of the Société Astronomique de Touraine.

The festival is co-organized by the association Echandon Loire Musique and the Société Astronomique de Touraine, illustrating a fruitful collaboration between the artistic and scientific worlds. This original alliance makes the Festival de la Contemplation a unique event of its kind in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
