Choral and instrumental music festival in the Haut-Jura region
Created in 1985, the Haut-Jura Music Festival is a historic musical event that takes place annually from late May to early June in Saint-Claude and the towns of the Haut-Jura region. Supported by the Community of Communes, it offers concerts in exceptional heritage locations, a traveling musical caravan, musical hikes, cine-concerts, and cafe-concerts, blending classical, choral, and popular music repertoires.
The Haut-Jura Music Festival is one of the oldest music festivals in the Jura department. Created in 1985, it has endured through the decades by constantly reinventing itself, becoming a major cultural event in the Haut-Jura territory, rooted in the town of Saint-Claude and its cathedral.
The festival is distinguished by its eclectic and innovative programming. Each edition is built around a unifying theme and offers a variety of formats: concerts in heritage locations (cathedral, chapels, historic halls), a traveling musical caravan touring the villages of Haut-Jura, musical hikes in the heart of nature, cine-concerts, and intimate cafe-concerts.
The festival takes place in remarkable heritage sites in Haut-Jura: the majestic Saint-Pierre Cathedral of Saint-Claude, rural chapels, municipal halls, and natural spaces of the Jura massif. This immersion in local heritage gives the festival a unique atmosphere, where music resonates with architecture and landscapes.
Supported by the Community of Communes of Haut-Jura and numerous institutional and cultural partners, the festival's influence extends far beyond Saint-Claude. The musical caravan, a true signature of the event, travels through the villages and hamlets of the territory, bringing music closer to the inhabitants in a spirit of proximity and sharing.
The 2025 edition, titled Avant-propos, took place from May 23 to June 1, offering an exceptional anniversary program with concerts in outstanding heritage venues, a musical caravan, musical hikes, and a film screening.
