The wind brings the most beautiful village to life
The Wind Festival invites visitors to discover the fascinating world of kites in the exceptional setting of Talmont-sur-Gironde, one of France's Most Beautiful Villages. Organized by the association Les Vents du Tao, this festival transforms the medieval village into an open-air gallery where weather vanes, wind turbines, and international kites come alive with the estuarine breezes.
Discovery and creativity for all
Over four days from late May to early June, the festival offers demonstrations and flights of kites from around the world, strolls through the village streets to admire wind creations, and workshops for children (from 6€). A small kite museum completes this immersion into the poetic and colorful world of flying objects. The event takes place from 10 am to 6 pm in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere.
Festival du Vent Talmont — edition 2026
2026 edition of the Festival du Vent in Talmont-sur-Gironde, from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17, 2026, on the occasion of the Ascension long weekend. Four days of kite flights, wind installations, creative workshops for children, and friendly activities in one of France's Most Beautiful Villages.
2026 Program
New edition of the Festival du Vent organized by the association Les Vents du Tao from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17, 2026, in partnership with the Talmont-sur-Gironde town hall, the Petit Musée des Toupies et Cerfs-Volants, and the village merchants.
For four days, the village sky comes alive with the flights of traditional and contemporary kites, presented by volunteer kite flyers who come to share their passion. The village is adorned with colorful banners and wind-animated installations, to be discovered along the medieval streets of Talmont-sur-Gironde, classified among France's Most Beautiful Villages.
New Workshops 2026
The Petit Musée offers two new creative workshops for this edition:
- Making a Thai Serpent Kite
- Creating a Magic Owl
These two new workshops are offered at 10 € per participant, in addition to the traditional workshops (classic kites, spinning tops, catapult planes, wind turbines) at 7 € per participant, duration 1 hour. Reservation recommended at the museum.
Programme Festival du Vent Talmont 2026
Every day from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17, 2026
- 10 AM - 6 PM — Free flights of traditional and contemporary kites in the village and on the lawns facing the estuary
- 10 AM - 7 PM — Opening of the Petit Musée des Toupies et Cerfs-Volants (Place de la Priauté)
- All day — Wind Garden: installation featuring over 60 animated weather vanes, from 1900 to the present day
- All day — Walks in the medieval village to discover colorful banners and wind-borne creations
Creative workshops for children (by reservation)
- Traditional workshops (1 hour, 7 € per participant): classic kite, spinning top, catapult plane, wind turbine
- New for 2026 (10 € per participant): making a Thai serpent kite
- New for 2026 (10 € per participant): creating a Magic Owl
