Festival of committed cinema questioning contemporary societal issues
The Festival du Film de Société de Royan questions contemporary human and societal issues by giving a voice to committed filmmakers. Organized by the association Royan Fait Son Cinéma, the festival takes place in early December at the Cinéma Lido in Royan and the Salle Michel Legrand in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer.
The edition offers a selection of about thirty films questioning major societal issues. The festival regularly highlights foreign cinematographies, such as Spanish cinema, and offers previews in the presence of film crews.
The festival aims to be a place for dialogue and exchange with meetings with film crews and open debates on major societal issues. A Youth section allows high school and university students from the region to select films and award their own prize, fostering critical awareness among young viewers.
The 6th edition of the Festival du Film de Société will take place from December 2 to 6, 2026, at the Cinéma Lido in Royan and the Salle Michel Legrand in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, with a selection of committed films and meetings with directors.
