About Alimenterre Festival in Charente-Maritime

The Alimenterre festival brings a national series of film screenings and debates focused on sustainable and fair global food systems to Charente-Maritime. Every autumn, documentaries covering agriculture, food sovereignty, and the working conditions of producers are screened in La Rochelle, Aunis, and on the Île de Ré, followed by discussions with local organizations, farmers, and researchers.

The local edition is coordinated by the Collectif Actions Solidaires (CAS17), which brings together various La Rochelle-based associations, with regional support from RADSI Nouvelle-Aquitaine and national coordination from the CFSI, the organization behind the Alimenterre festival.

Alimenterre Festival in Charente-Maritime — edition 2026

For its 20th national edition, the Alimenterre festival is bringing ten documentaries to Charente-Maritime, focusing on agriculture, fair pay for producers, and food sovereignty. Screenings will take place from October 12th to November 30th, 2026, in La Rochelle, Aunis, and on the Île de Ré. Each screening will be followed by a discussion with local associations, farmers, or educators.

The opening event will be held on October 12th at the Maison de l'étudiant in La Rochelle with a screening of "Ébullition".

An edition driven by the local community

The Collectif Actions Solidaires is coordinating this La Rochelle edition alongside various associations, businesses, market gardeners, schools, and local authorities, each hosting one or more screenings. The topics covered include the true cost of food, the passing down of farming knowledge, seeds, animal welfare in livestock farming, the right to food, and the role of women in agriculture.

The full schedule of the ten films and screening locations will be released by the organizers in mid-September 2026.
