The meeting place for adventure and exploration enthusiasts
Created in 2004, the International Adventure Film and Book Festival (FIFAV) has established itself as the unmissable event for exploration enthusiasts. For a week in November, the festival offers 156 sessions of screenings, literary encounters, podcasts, and exhibitions that attract nearly 40,000 visitors.
FIFAV presents an exceptional selection of adventure documentary films: mountaineering, polar expeditions, bike tours, solo sailing. The screenings are accompanied by meetings with adventurers who share their unique experiences.
The festival also offers a bookstore space dedicated to adventure stories, travelogues, and exploration books. It's an opportunity to discover the latest publications and meet the adventurer authors.
The 23rd edition of FIFAV takes place from November 16 to 22, 2026, in La Rochelle. Centered around the three pillars of Nature, Culture, and Adventure, the festival offers documentary films, meetings with explorers, an adventure bookshop, exhibitions, podcasts, and workshops at Espace Encan and the Aquarium.
For its 23rd edition, from November 16 to 22, 2026, the International Adventure Film and Book Festival (FIFAV) continues to celebrate the spirit of exploration around its three themes: Nature, Culture, Adventure. The program brings together a selection of adventure documentary films screened in the presence of directors and adventurers, literary meetings and book signings, Adventure Cafés, free photographic exhibitions, and artistic practice workshops.
Screenings and meetings primarily take place at Espace Encan (Auditorium Michel Crépeau) and the Aquarium de La Rochelle, around the “Adventure Dock” on the port. A “Sailors' Space” (Espace Moussaillons) and workshops dedicated to children (readings, games) complete the program, as well as sessions reserved for school groups. FIFAV has been a member of “1% for the Planet” since 2011 and is committed to an eco-responsible approach.
