The unmissable event for kite flyers in France
The International Kite and Wind Festival of Châtelaillon-Plage is one of the major kite events in Europe. Every spring, the beach hosts over 300 kite flyers from around the world for three days of free aerial shows with nearly 800 colorful kites filling the sky, Japanese rokkaku competitions, and introductions to towed sports.
For over 30 years, the International Kite and Wind Festival has transformed Châtelaillon beach into a magnificent celestial theater. More than 800 kites take over the sky during this spring event which attracts over 100,000 spectators. French and European champions perform technical figures with 4, 6, 8, or even 10 pilots in a spectacular aerial ballet.
The festival offers a rich and varied program: traditional Japanese rokkaku kite fights, giant marine bestiary in the sky, demonstrations and introductions to kitesurfing, kite jumping, powerkiting, wingfoiling, and land yachting. Free workshops allow the public of all ages to discover these impressive disciplines and the magic of kite flying.
