Festival of the Black Bottom Pigs 2024

On August 4, 2024, Ségur-le-Château hosted the Festival of the Black Bottom Pigs, a day dedicated to the Limousin Black Bottom Pig, an ancestral porcine breed from the Massif Central. The Brotherhood of the Limousin Black Bottom Pig organized this festive day in the medieval setting of this Most Beautiful Village in France.

Visitors could discover the breed with pigs present on-site, taste exceptional charcuterie (hams, sausages, pâtés, rillettes) from the Black Bottom Pig, and witness know-how demonstrations. Stands from producers and breeders showcased their traditional free-range farming methods.

The event raised public awareness about the importance of preserving this local breed and supporting farmers who perpetuate respectful farming methods.
