A festival in the heart of a listed medieval village
The Festival des Pastorels takes place in one of the most beautiful heritage sites in Lozère: the fortified village of La Garde-Guérin, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. At the foot of the castle tower, overlooking the Chassezac gorges, the site transforms into a true open-air stage, offering festival-goers an incomparable setting between ancient stones and grandiose panoramas.
Birth of a festival
The Festival des Pastorels was born in 2022 from a collective initiative by the cultural associations of the commune of Prévenchères and the town hall. From its very first edition, on August 10, 2022, the festival met with remarkable success with nearly 2,000 spectators who came to attend the concerts at the foot of the castle. This founding success confirmed the relevance of the project: to offer residents and vacationers cultural programming worthy of major national stages, in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere.
An ambitious program
The Festival des Pastorels stands out for its ability to attract nationaly renowned artists to this small mountain village. The 2024 edition, the third of its name, hosted Cali to celebrate his 20 years of love with the public, accompanied by Joseph Kamel and Stéphane. The program is completed by regional and local artists, offering a varied lineup mixing French chanson, pop, rock, and contemporary music.
Local artists in the spotlight
True to its territorial roots, the festival highlights the talents of the region. Caroline Sweety (pop), Guillaume Caparos, and DJ Faab's have notably participated in previous editions, offering a showcase for artists from Lozère and the Cévennes.
An event rooted in its territory
The Festival des Pastorels benefits from the support of the Department of Lozère, the Occitanie Region, as well as private partners such as EDF ENR and the Crédit Agricole du Languedoc. This network of support demonstrates the importance of this event for the cultural and tourist influence of the territory.
Local produce and conviviality
Beyond the concerts, the festival is an opportunity to discover local products from Lozère. A bar and stands for tasting local products accompany the evening, reinforcing the convivial and festive spirit of the event. The family atmosphere is at the heart of the project, with free admission for children under 10 years old.
La Garde-Guérin: a heritage setting
The choice of the La Garde-Guérin site gives the festival a unique heritage dimension. This 12th-century fortified village, a former guard post on the Régordane route connecting the Massif Central to the Mediterranean, offers an atmosphere steeped in history. The castle tower, the cobbled streets, and the panoramas over the Chassezac gorges contribute to the magic of the event and place the Festival des Pastorels within a framework of valuing the heritage of Lozère.
