Practical Advice

Arrive fifteen minutes before the start of each performance. The festival lasts approximately two weeks: consult the detailed program for the times and locations of each play. Refreshments available after the performances.

A festival born from a passion for amateur theatre

The Festival Drama'Tics was created in 2011 on the initiative of the MJC d'Altkirch (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture of the Altkirch Community of Communes). The founding idea: to create an annual highlight allowing amateur theatre groups from schools, colleges, and cultural associations in Sundgau to perform on stage in front of a family audience. The festival is named after the MJC's flagship troupe, the Drama'Tics, and embodies a commitment to transmission and collective artistic practice.

Over a hundred actors on stage

Each edition brings together over a hundred actors of all ages, from the youngest children to adults. Participating troupes come from the MJC Altkirch (which has four troupes on its own), the MJC Spechbach-le-Haut, the Institution Sainte Jeanne d'Arc of Mulhouse, the Collège de la Largue (Seppois-le-Bas), the ACL of Zillisheim, and the CDCJ of Rixheim. This diversity of troupes creates a stimulating artistic emulation and allows the public to discover varied theatrical approaches, from classical to contemporary.

The Halle au Blé and the halls of Sundgau

Since 2016, the Halle au Blé in Altkirch has become the main venue for the festival. This cultural facility in the sub-prefecture of Sundgau offers an ideal setting for theatrical performances. The festival also invests other venues over the editions: the Foyer Saint-Maurice in Hirtzbach (since 2008), the Salle des Œuvres in Illfurth (since 2017), the Salle des fêtes in Koestlach (since 2018), and the Médiathèque d'Altkirch. This touring throughout Sundgau allows reaching a wider audience and enlivening the halls of rural towns.

A repertoire of classical and contemporary works

The programming of the Drama'Tics Festival navigates between great repertoire texts and original creations. Troupes have thus presented Molière's The Imaginary Invalid, contemporary adaptations, and plays written by the actors themselves. The festival places significant importance on original plays, encouraging theatrical creation and writing among young amateurs. Performances are also scheduled during the spring holidays, allowing younger troupes to perform in suitable conditions.

A free and friendly festival

True to its commitment to cultural accessibility, the Drama'Tics Festival is entirely free. A collection box is available for voluntary donations to fund the festival. A refreshment stand is offered after the performances, extending the moment of conviviality and exchange between actors and spectators. The festival recommends arriving fifteen minutes before the start of the performances.
