The first psychedelic trance festival in France, born in Grenoble
The Hadra Trance Festival is the first and largest psychedelic trance festival in France. Founded in 2005 by the Hadra association, based in Grenoble, this festival brings together around 10,000 festival-goers each year for four days and 72 hours of uninterrupted music. More than 150 artists perform on four stages covering a wide spectrum of electronic music: psytrance, techno, drum'n bass, ambient, downtempo, and electroacoustic music. Originally from Isère where it was held in Pontcharra and then in Vercors, the festival now takes place at the Vieure lake in the Allier region.
The Hadra Trance Festival is the first psychedelic trance festival created in France. Founded in 2005 by the Hadra association, based in Grenoble, this festival has become over two decades an international reference event for psytrance culture and alternative electronic music, attracting around 10,000 festival-goers from all over the world each year.
The Hadra association was founded in Grenoble in 2001 by a group of electronic music and psychedelic trance enthusiasts. Before the festival's creation, the association organized psytrance parties gathering 300 to 400 people in the Grenoble region. The first edition of the festival took place in 2005 in Chorges (Hautes-Alpes). The festival then settled in Pontcharra (Isère) for its third edition in 2008, then in the Vercors massif (Lans-en-Vercors, Isère) from 2010 to 2014. Since 2016, the festival has been held at the Vieure lake in Allier (03).
The Hadra Trance Festival unfolds across four stages offering 72 hours of uninterrupted music:
More than 150 international artists perform at each edition, making the festival one of the most important psytrance events in the world.
The Hadra Trance Festival is one of the few major international psytrance festivals to operate as a non-profit association. All festival revenue is reinvested in the association's projects. The festival is committed to inclusivity, diversity, environmental sustainability, and accessibility, notably with a women-only camping area and family spaces.
Beyond music, the festival offers a village with conferences, art exhibitions, workshops, yoga, and well-being activities. A space called Le Portail showcases psychedelic and visionary art. Fire troupes, circus artists, and street performers animate the spaces between the stages. More than 15 teams of professional and volunteer set designers create the festival's immersive decors.
The 17th edition of the Hadra Trance Festival will be held from August 27 to 30, 2026, at the Vieure lake. This edition will mark the opening of a new era in the festival's history, with an unprecedented artistic direction deployed over several years. Ticketing and programming will be announced in early 2026.
