The westernmost festival in France
The Ilophone Festival is a unique musical event on the island of Ouessant, off the coast of Finistère. Created in 2010, it is the westernmost festival in France. Every September, for three days, the island transforms into a stage for contemporary music with an eclectic program mixing Breton artists and international talents. This island experience offers an exceptional setting between ocean and heritage, where conviviality and musical discovery combine in an intimate atmosphere.
Since 2010, the Ilophone Festival has been electrifying the island of Ouessant every September. Nestled in the heart of the Iroise Sea, this festival is officially the westernmost of all festivals in France, offering a unique musical experience in an exceptional island setting.
Ilophone's strength lies in its ability to blend genres and horizons. Each edition features a 100% local evening highlighting Breton talents, followed by more international evenings exploring rock, pop, electro, and world music. Artists such as Miossec, Molécule, Orange Blossom, Winston McAnuff, and Quinquis (Émilie Tiersen) have graced the Ouessant stage, creating unforgettable moments of sharing.
Getting to Ilophone means first taking a boat from Brest or Le Conquet to reach Ouessant, a crossing that is an integral part of the adventure. On-site, the concerts take place at the Salle Omnisports in Lampaul, in an intimate atmosphere where the limited capacity creates a rare closeness between artists and the audience. The island also offers an exceptional natural setting to enjoy the days between concerts: lighthouses, coastal paths, wild moors, and maritime heritage.
Ilophone stands out for its commitment to accessibility with the concept "music in signs", offering sign language translations during concerts. The festival is also free for children under 12, affirming its desire to be open to as many people as possible in a family-friendly and inclusive spirit.
Since its creation in 2010, Ilophone has continued to grow, evolving from a small island musical gathering to a recognized festival in the Breton cultural landscape. In 2025, the 16th edition was sold out, a testament to the growing enthusiasm for this unique event that combines music, nature, and island life.
The 17th edition of the Ilophone Festival is expected in September 2026 on the island of Ouessant. The lineup and ticketing will be announced later.
