A festival born by the lake to revitalize the territory

The Lacoustique Festival was born in 2017, driven by Emma and Sarah Conquet and the association LaC'réactivité. The idea is simple but ambitious: to organize a festive and committed event by the Lac de Marcenac, six kilometers from the village of Lalbenque, to revitalize this isolated rural area of the Causse du Quercy and bring together all generations and local populations.

The name of the festival plays on words: the lake (de Marcenac), acoustic (live and organic music), and the creative reactivity of its founders. Since its creation, the festival has grown from edition to edition, expanding from one day to a full weekend, while maintaining its friendly, accessible, and militant spirit.

Music, culture, and creation by the water

Lacoustique's musical programming generously mixes genres: acoustic music, folk, soul, rock, world music, rap, Occitan music, and electronic sets follow each other on the floating stage and the main stage by the lake. Among the artists who have marked past editions, we find bands like Lazy Grass String Band (bluegrass), Kanazoé Orkestra (world fanfare), Myasara (soul), Do No Do (pop-rock), Tiwiza (Amazigh and Chaâbi rock), Araëlles (Celtic music), and Europe KNSM (rap).

Beyond music, the festival offers a rich cultural program: Occitan and French storytelling for children, philosophy cafés, conferences-debates on social issues (food resilience, rural life, LGBTQ+ issues in rural areas), open-air cinema with CinéLot, photographic exhibitions, and sound installations like the podcast "Champs Queer".

Ecology as a social cement

Lacoustique Festival is inspired by peasant lifestyles based on self-sufficiency and resilience. Each edition offers concrete alternatives to overconsumption: flea markets and clothing swaps, team swap competitions, workshops for repairing small appliances in partnership with rural community centers, linocut and craft stands.

Anti-waste meals, prepared from unsold goods and local organic products, are offered at a free price. Wild plant foraging walks led by specialist Claire Mauquié allow participants to discover the botanical riches of the Causse. The festival favors short supply chains, local drinks (craft beers, organic juices), and a zero-waste approach.

An intergenerational and solidarity event

True to its founding values, Lacoustique Festival operates on the principle of free participation, ensuring access to culture for all. On-site camping is offered at a free price. A team of eight co-managers and numerous volunteers animate the event in partnership with rural community centers, local associations, and the Lalbenque-Limogne community of municipalities.

With over 1,000 visitors per edition, Lacoustique has become an unmissable end-of-summer event in the Lot, proving that a rural, free, and committed festival can shine far beyond its territory.
