Rock, punk and alternative music on the banks of the Lot in Albas
The Limau Festival is an alternative music festival organized every year on July 13th in Albas, in the Lot region. Created in 1996 by the association Que le Roc Vive, it takes place on the banks of the Lot and offers an eclectic program mixing rock, punk, metal, hip-hop, reggae, techno and ska. A true local institution, the festival celebrated its 30th edition in 2025. With two stages, on-site catering and a friendly atmosphere, the Limau Festival has become a must-attend event on the alternative music scene in Quercy.
The Limau Festival was born in 1996, driven by the association Que le Roc Vive, a group of music enthusiasts from the village of Albas. What started as a local party on the banks of the Lot has transformed over the years into a true alternative music festival, attracting hundreds of festival-goers each summer to this picturesque wine-growing village in the Lot.
The festival takes its name from the Limau, a local place name designating an emblematic spot in Albas, a village perched above the Lot valley. Every July 13th, the eve of the national holiday, the banks of the Lot are transformed into an open-air concert space, offering an exceptional natural setting for a musical evening that lasts until dawn.
The Limau Festival stands out for the diversity of its musical program. From rock to punk, including metal, hip-hop, techno, reggae, ska-punk, and soul, all genres of alternative music share the stage on the festival's two platforms: a main stage hosting headliners and a springboard stage dedicated to emerging local bands.
Over its thirty editions, the festival has hosted renowned artists such as Ludwig Von 88, Les Tambours du Bronx, Demi Portion, Los Tres Puntos, Locomuerte, Bestia, and Regal Trip. The springboard stage allows local bands to perform in front of an enthusiastic audience, with an audience vote system that offers the winner a spot on the main stage the following year.
The festival takes place on the banks of the Lot, at the foot of the medieval village of Albas, in a breathtaking natural setting. The river, the limestone cliffs, and the Cahors vineyards form a striking backdrop for this summer musical night. The open-air site, accessible from Rue de la Carrière, offers an intimate and warm atmosphere that makes the Limau Festival unique.
True to its associative spirit, the Limau Festival is entirely organized by volunteers from the Que le Roc Vive association. On-site catering and a bar accompany festival-goers throughout the evening. For some editions, the festival has adopted a pay-what-you-want system, demonstrating its desire to make music accessible to as many people as possible. Doors open at 7 PM for catering, and concerts start at 9 PM and continue until 5 AM.
