Breton music in the heart of a medieval fortress

The Les Nuits de Largoët festival offers a unique cultural experience, blending Breton music, live performance, and medieval heritage in the magnificent setting of the Largoët fortress in Elven. Organized by the Bagad Elven, this summer festival, established in 2021, features a weekend of performances where the sounds of bombards and bagpipes echo between the ancient walls.

A weekend of performances

The festival spans two days, typically on a Friday and Saturday in July, with a program that combines various artistic forms:

  • Bagad concerts: The Bagad Elven hosts one or more guest bagads for collaborative performances.
  • Breton-themed entertainment and music during the day.
  • Depending on the year, pyrotechnic shows, tales and legends, cine-concerts, and more.

A high-quality program

In 2026, the 6th edition features Empreinte Vagabonde (cine-concert) and the Bagad Bro Konk Kerne (Concarneau), with a show titled Daskemm, bringing together numerous guests: Blue Glaz on vocals, Zoé Muraccioli on guitar, Nicolas Chua on bass, Yann Cariou on flutes, Tudi Cariou on keyboards, and Manon Martin on drums. The programming is driven by a desire to offer original creations that fuse Breton music with other artistic disciplines.

The Largoët fortress

The Largoët fortress, also known as the Tours d'Elven, is a remarkable medieval site dating from the 13th to the 15th century. Its 57-meter octagonal keep is one of the tallest in France. This exceptional setting gives the festival a magical, timeless atmosphere, where Breton music resonates with the medieval history of Brittany.

The Bagad Elven, the festival's pillar

The Bagad Elven is a musical ensemble inspired by Breton traditions, featuring bombards, Scottish bagpipes, percussion, and other complementary instruments. As a music school, the Bagad Elven trains young musicians and passes on the Breton musical tradition. The Les Nuits de Largoët festival is the highlight of its cultural season.
