Breton shows and music in the medieval fortress of Elven
Les Nuits de Largoët is a festival of Breton music and performing arts organized by the Bagad Elven in the exceptional setting of the medieval fortress of Largoët in Elven. Since its first edition in 2021, the festival has offered a weekend of concerts, pyrotechnic shows, tales, and legends every summer in the heart of this medieval site from the 13th-15th centuries.
The Les Nuits de Largoët festival offers a unique cultural experience by bringing together Breton music, performing arts, and medieval heritage in the magnificent setting of the Largoët fortress in Elven. Organized by the Bagad Elven, this summer festival, created in 2021, offers a weekend of shows where the sounds of bombards and bagpipes echo between the ancient walls.
The festival unfolds over two days, Friday and Saturday in July, with a program that blends several artistic forms:
In 2025, the 5th edition welcomes the Trio Pêr Vari Kervarec and the Bagad Brieg, with a pyrotechnic show titled “Le Roi” (The King) created by the Compagnie Sonjévéyés. The programming is driven by the desire to offer original creations that blend Breton music with other artistic disciplines.
The Largoët fortress, also known as the Tours d'Elven, is a remarkable medieval site dating from the 13th to the 15th century. Its 57-meter octagonal keep is one of the tallest in France. This exceptional setting gives the festival a magical, timeless atmosphere, where Breton music resonates with the medieval history of Brittany.
The Bagad Elven is an instrumental ensemble of Breton-inspired music that includes bombards, Scottish bagpipes, percussion, and complementary instruments. Also a music school, Bagad Elven trains young musicians and passes on Breton musical tradition. The Les Nuits de Largoët festival is the highlight of its cultural season.
