Marée Haute: A Wave of Culture on the Monts de Lacaune

The Marée Haute Festival was born in 2023 from the meeting between the community of communes of Monts de Lacaune and Montagne du Haut Languedoc and the association Arpèges & Trémolos, the organizing body of the famous Pause Guitare festival in Albi. The ambition: to create a major cultural event in a rural, mid-mountain territory, demonstrating that culture can reach the most remote villages.

A Traveling Festival Rooted in the Territory

The originality of Marée Haute lies in its deeply itinerant nature. The festival unfolds across nine communes: Lacaune, Viane, Nages, La Salvetat-sur-Agout, Murat-sur-Vèbre, Moulin-Mage, Fraisse-sur-Agout, Cambon-et-Salvergues, and Gijounet. Each village hosts performances adapted to its locations—squares, castles, hiking trails, churches—in an approach that values local heritage and builds connections between the inhabitants of this mountainous region.

A Multidisciplinary and Festive Program

Marée Haute's program happily blends concerts, street theater, brass bands, equestrian shows, musical hikes, and gastronomic events. Invited artists—from the national scene as well as emerging creators—perform in exceptional settings: under the starry sky of the Calmels castle, in the village squares, in the heart of the Haut Languedoc forests. The 7 to 8 km hikes punctuated by musical stops offer a unique festival experience in the heart of nature.

Strong Local Roots

Marée Haute also celebrates the culinary and cultural heritage of the region. Each edition pays tribute to a local figure or a gastronomic tradition, with shared meals prepared by local chefs. The festival creates positive economic and social momentum for a mountainous territory seeking to attract new residents and visitors.

Marée Haute — edition 2026

The 4th edition of Marée Haute will take place from May 22 to 25, 2026, in the Monts de Lacaune and Haut Languedoc. The festival will continue its traveling artistic odyssey with concerts, street performances, musical hikes, and gastronomic moments in the villages of Viane, Lacaune, Nages, and La Salvetat-sur-Agout.

4th Edition — From May 22 to 25, 2026

The Marée Haute Festival returns for its 4th edition from May 22 to 25, 2026. The artistic and festive odyssey will continue through the villages of Monts de Lacaune and Montagne du Haut Languedoc, from Viane to Lacaune, from Nages to La Salvetat-sur-Agout.

The program, to be announced in spring 2026, will, as each year, blend concerts, street theater, brass bands, shows under the stars, musical hikes, and gastronomic celebrations, paying tribute to the local figures and traditions of Haut Languedoc.

On Monday, May 25, a grand celebration is planned in Viane with a giant meal and festive activities to beautifully conclude this 4th edition.
