The medieval festival of the Laouzas lake, in the heart of the Monts de l'Espinouse
Organized by the association “Nages à travers les âges”, Médié-Nages is a free medieval festival that takes over the village of Nages, perched in the Monts de l'Espinouse by the Laouzas lake, every end of June. Knights in armor, troubadours, falconers, medieval artisans and historical encampments bring the Middle Ages back to life in an exceptional natural setting, in the heart of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park.
Nestled in the Monts de l'Espinouse, at an altitude of over 800 meters, the village of Nages offers a striking setting each summer to bring the Middle Ages back to life. It is here that the association Nages à travers les âges created Médié-Nages, a completely free medieval festival that brings together knights, troubadours, artisans, and history enthusiasts for a weekend at the end of June.
The Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park, of which Nages is a part, is a land of vibrant traditions and preserved heritage. Médié-Nages is fully integrated into this local identity by highlighting the medieval history of Languedoc, its arts, its crafts, and its legends. The event is based on three founding values: the transmission of ancestral know-how, conviviality thanks to volunteer engagement, and authenticity in respect of the history of the village and its region.
For two days, the alleys of Nages and the shores of the Laouzas lake are transformed into a vast medieval camp. Visitors can wander freely among:
The Laouzas lake, a vast 400-hectare body of water surrounded by pine and beech forests, gives the festival a unique atmosphere. The pure mountain air, the panoramas of the Monts de l'Espinouse, and the tranquility of the village of Nages create a total change of scenery, far from urban bustle. This exceptional natural setting is in itself an invitation to stroll and discover.
Médié-Nages is designed to welcome families, history buffs, and the curious from all walks of life. Admission is completely free, and the activities cover a wide range of ages, from the youngest to grandparents. The organizing association ensures a varied program, alternating major shows, interactive workshops, and moments of conviviality around the medieval table.
The 4th edition of Médié-Nages returns on June 27 and 28, 2026, to the village of Nages, by the Laouzas lake. The association Nages à travers les âges is preparing a new free medieval immersion with encampments, fights, falconry, troubadours, and an artisanal market in the heart of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park.
