The festival dedicated to the piano in all its forms, in the heart of Lille
Initiated by the Orchestre National de Lille, the Lille Piano(s) Festival celebrates the piano in all its forms over three days in June. Since 2004, around forty concerts have taken place at the Nouveau Siècle, the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral, the Palais des Beaux-Arts, and other emblematic venues. Classical, jazz, electro, and family shows make up a rich and accessible program.
The Lille Piano(s) Festival was born in 2004 from the desire of the Orchestre National de Lille to create a festive and popular event centered around the piano. For over twenty years, the festival has transformed the capital of Flanders into a vast piano stage during a long June weekend.
Each edition offers around forty concerts and musical events spread throughout the city of Lille. The program boldly blends classical music, jazz, electro, and world music, along with family shows. World-renowned soloists share the stage with promising young talents, while the Orchestre National de Lille and guest orchestras present exceptional symphonic concerts.
The festival unfolds in emblematic venues in Lille:
The Lille Piano(s) Festival aims to be accessible to all audiences. Free outdoor concerts, workshops for children, and conferences offer new ways to discover the piano. The festival attracts thousands of music lovers and curious individuals each year, confirming its status as a benchmark in the French music scene.
The festival is inseparable from the figure of Jean-Claude Casadesus, founder of the Orchestre National de Lille and initiator of the Lille Piano(s) Festival. Under his leadership, the festival has created an event that transcends musical genres, making the piano the ultimate unifying instrument.
The Lille Piano(s) Festival is enriched each year by collaborations with guest orchestras: the Orchestre de Picardie, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and other ensembles have participated in recent editions, bringing an international dimension to the event. The conservatories of the region are also involved, allowing young talents to perform in a professional setting.
