The eclectic and family-friendly festival of Vertou
Charivari is the free and eclectic festival organized by the City of Vertou since 2009, in the enchanting setting of the Parc de la Sèvre, on the riverbank. A family-friendly and convivial event, it brings together over 30,000 festival-goers each year over two days of open-air concerts mixing pop, rock, French chanson, electro, and world music. The programming combines established artists and emerging talents, with particular attention paid to the local scene and discoveries. Entirely free and accessible to people with disabilities, Charivari also offers a Family Village, cultural activities, about twenty food trucks, and eco-responsible commitments in terms of waste management and short supply chains.
Created in 2009 by the City of Vertou, the Charivari festival was born from the desire to offer the inhabitants of the town and the Nantes metropolitan area a festive, free, and accessible cultural event for all. Located in the magnificent Parc de la Sèvre, a green space on the riverbank just 15 minutes from Nantes, the festival has built a loyal and ever-growing audience over the years.
Charivari stands out for the richness and diversity of its musical programming. On two stages — the Scène du Parc, the largest, and the Scène de la Clairière — more than twenty shows alternate, mixing pop, rock, French chanson, electro, Afro-Cuban music, and various artistic creations. The festival makes it a point of honor to combine nationally renowned artists and emerging talents from the local scene, offering a showcase for Vertou's cultural associations that present dance, theater, and songs on the Scène de la Clairière.
Over the years, Charivari has hosted artists such as Christophe Willem, Archimède, Elephanz, Mad Foxes, Colours in the Street, and Los Duendes, confirming its status as a must-attend musical event in the south of the Nantes metropolitan area.
Much more than just a music festival, Charivari is a family event in its own right. The Family Village, with its wooden games, creative workshops, and activities run by local associations, delights both young and old. The Vertou Photo Club offers a family portrait each year as a souvenir of the festival.
Committed to an eco-responsible approach, the festival pays particular attention to waste management, short supply chains for catering provided by about twenty food trucks, and accessibility for people with disabilities. Each year, about a hundred volunteers join the municipal team to bring this friendly and supportive event to life.

Building on the success of the 13th edition, which attracted over 30,000 festival-goers, Charivari returns on May 30 and 31, 2026 for a 14th edition that is as eclectic and family-friendly as ever, in the heart of Parc de la Sèvre. The festival continues its mission to offer a free, accessible, and locally rooted cultural event.
