The Tinta'Mars Festival: Live Performance at the Heart of Pays de Langres

Since 1988, the Tinta'Mars association has championed a cultural project dedicated to promoting live performance to all audiences in Langres and the Pays de Langres. Every year in March, the festival transforms the fortified city and surrounding villages into a vast playground for artistic discovery, offering about fifteen quality performances of great diversity.

A Rich and Multidisciplinary Program

The Tinta'Mars Festival stands out for the variety of its program, which encompasses numerous live performance disciplines:

  • Theater: contemporary creations and adaptations of classics, such as the musical adaptation of Molière's The Imaginary Invalid by Marilu Production and La Voix du Poulpe
  • Circus: performances combining acrobatics, stunts, and physical feats
  • Puppetry: a traditional art revisited by creative companies
  • Music and concerts: diverse musical offerings integrated into the program
  • Dance: choreographic performances for all ages

The program is aimed at both young audiences and adults, with performances specifically designed for children and others for a broader audience. The festival also offers artistic practice workshops in schools and structures in Pays de Langres, in the form of residencies or one-off interventions.

An International Dimension

Over the years, the festival has developed remarkable international openness. The 2025 edition (37th) notably hosted companies from Japan, Belgium, Quebec, and Germany, alongside French artists, offering spectators a cosmopolitan and enriching program. For example, the Japanese company Sivouplait presented a wordless visual performance, 'Funny Silences of a Couple in White'.

A Festival Rooted in its Territory

Tinta'Mars is not limited to the city of Langres: the festival reaches throughout the Pays de Langres, using village halls and cultural venues in the surrounding areas. This decentralization approach brings live performance closer to rural residents and fosters social connection across the territory.

Accessibility and Inclusion

The Tinta'Mars association is labeled Tourism and Disability for all types of disabilities (hearing, mental, visual, and motor). The festival provides a FALC (Easy to Read and Understand) space on its website, demonstrating its strong commitment to accessibility. The 'Ce soir à domicile' (Tonight at Home) project specifically targets young people aged 15 to 25 to guide them towards discovering live performance.

An Adventure of Nearly Four Decades

Founded in 1988, the Tinta'Mars association has grown its festival over the years, evolving from a local event to a recognized cultural gathering on a regional and even broader scale. In 2025, the festival celebrated its 37th edition, and the 38th edition in 2026 confirms the vitality and sustainability of this event supported by about fifty passionate volunteers.

The festival continues its mission to promote live performance to young and general audiences, with a program mixing theater, circus, puppetry, music, and dance. The edition opened with the show 'Canopée' by Boris Vigneron at the Salle Jean-Favre.
