About Festival de Rieux
The Festival ! de Rieux is a performing arts festival created in 2021 by the theatrical association Durétie de Rieux, under the artistic direction of Christophe Rouxel. Located on the banks of the Vilaine river in the town of Rieux in Morbihan, this summer festival offers an ambitious program mixing theater, dance, circus, music, and street performances. With 20 shows, 40 performances, and 21 invited companies, the festival offers a rich panorama of contemporary performing arts.

A festival born from a collective adventure
The Festival ! de Rieux was born in 2021 from the desire to extend an exceptional artistic adventure. Between 2016 and 2019, the Durétie de Rieux theatrical association, under the artistic direction of Christophe Rouxel, had created three open-air shows that had each attracted more than 5,000 spectators. This success gave birth to a true performing arts festival.
An ambitious program
Each summer, from late July to early August, the festival offers a dense and varied program:
- Contemporary and classical Theater
- Contemporary Dance and performances
- Contemporary Circus: acrobatics, juggling, tightrope walking
- Music and musical shows
- Street performances and itinerant arts
- Cabaret and light forms
- Comedy shows and puppet shows
In 2025, the festival notably presented "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" by Bertolt Brecht, with 9 sold-out final performances and approximately 2,500 spectators.
Regional and national companies
The festival hosts about twenty companies from all over France, offering around forty performances on four different stages. Among the invited artists are Les Goguettes, Cirque Inextremiste, Les Hommes Penchés, and Leila Ka, testifying to the ambition and quality of the programming.
On the banks of the Vilaine
Rieux, a small town in southern Morbihan crossed by the Vilaine river, offers a bucolic and picturesque setting for the festival. The shows take place in the natural and heritage spaces of the town: the banks of the Vilaine, the village squares, gardens, and unique locations.

Access
Rieux is located in the south of Morbihan, between Redon and Vannes.
- By car : From Vannes, take the N166 then D775 towards Redon, exit Rieux (40 minutes). From Redon, D775 towards Vannes (15 minutes). Parking available on site.
- By train : Redon station (TGV from Paris in 2h30), then taxi or carpooling to Rieux (15 minutes).
