The village festival of Furdenheim: music, shows, and fireworks since 1984
Since 1984, the Festival Vents d'Est transforms the village of Furdenheim into a unique popular festival site in Alsace every first weekend of July. For three evenings, traditional Alsatian farms open their doors and the village streets vibrate to the rhythm of music β electro, variety, dance β sound and light shows, laser shows, and a final firework display. The ACSL Furdenheim association, with its volunteers, perpetuates this village tradition that combines conviviality, local gastronomy, and entertainment for all ages, attracting thousands of visitors from the Strasbourg area.
The history of the Festival Vents d'Est dates back to 1984, when the ACSL Furdenheim (Association Culturelle, Sportive et de Loisirs) launched a village festival that would become a must-attend summer event in Alsace over the decades. In 2025, the festival celebrated its 42nd edition, demonstrating remarkable longevity for an event run exclusively by volunteers from a village of less than 2,000 inhabitants, on the outskirts of Strasbourg.
The Festival Vents d'Est unfolds over three evenings, each with its own musical and festive identity. Friday is dedicated to electro and house music, with renowned DJs like La Folie Douce and DJ KAB electrifying the dance floor. Saturday features a Biergarten (beer garden) in partnership with the Licorne brewery, with local artists and a friendly outdoor beer garden atmosphere. Sunday is dedicated to dance and variety music, for a festive and danceable closing evening.
The hallmark of the Festival Vents d'Est is its spectacular visual shows. Each evening is punctuated by laser shows, sound and light shows, and firework displays that illuminate the village sky. The final fireworks display, which has become an iconic moment of the festival, attracts spectators from all over the Strasbourg region. The company Aquatique Show has collaborated with the festival since its inception, contributing to the renown of these visual animations.
The unique aspect of the Festival Vents d'Est lies in its village roots. Traditional Alsatian farms open their courtyards and barns to welcome visitors, offering an authentic and warm setting. Food stalls offer regional specialties β flammekueche, sausages, choucroute β and local drinks. The village opens at 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday (7 PM on Friday) for three evenings of conviviality where all generations come together.
