Bléneau, a lively village in the heart of Puisaye
Bléneau is a commune in the Yonne (89220) with about 1,150 inhabitants, nestled in the heart of the natural region of Puisaye, this land of ponds, forests, and hedgerows that extends to the borders of Burgundy and Loiret. Located 56 km from Auxerre and 29 km from Gien, the village has remarkable heritage, notably its Jardins d'Eau Pierre Doudeau, true aquatic jewels that regularly serve as a setting for local festivities.
Community life is particularly dynamic here, driven by an active Comité des Fêtes which offers entertainment for all residents throughout the year: carnival, school fete, end-of-year celebrations, and, of course, the big summer festival around July 14th.
The Fête de Bléneau: an unmissable summer event
The Fête de Bléneau is the highlight of the summer festivities for the entire commune and its surroundings. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes de Bléneau, it traditionally takes place around July 13th and 14th, in conjunction with the national holiday celebrations. This event brings together several hundred Blénaviens, families, young people, and visitors passing through Puisaye-Forterre every year.
The festival begins on the evening of July 13th with a friendly barbecue under the Halle starting at 6:30 PM, a moment of sharing and meeting neighbors. The evening continues with a dance evening hosted by a DJ or a local band, before culminating in fireworks launched from the Jardins d'Eau Pierre Doudeau at 11 PM, whose reflections on the water create a particularly magical spectacle.
Entertainment and festive atmosphere
The festival program also includes:
- Games and entertainment for children: carousels, inflatable structures, traditional games
- Refreshments and food on site with local products from Puisaye
- A torchlight procession through the village streets
- Musical entertainment during the day on the main square
- Outdoor pétanque games
An exceptional natural setting in Puisaye
Puisaye is a unique natural region, often nicknamed the "land of a thousand ponds". Its bocage landscapes, oak forests, ponds, and villages with half-timbered or sandstone houses form an ideal environment for summer festivities. Bléneau is located at the entrance to this territory, at the crossroads between the Yonne, Loiret, and Nièvre departments. The village festival is the perfect opportunity for tourists staying in Puisaye-Forterre to discover Burgundian conviviality in all its authenticity.
