The Domont Summer Festival — a month of free events on the Esplanade des Fauvettes
The Summer Festival is the major summer event in the town of Domont, a commune of 16,000 inhabitants in Val-d'Oise located northeast of the Montmorency valley. Organized annually by the municipality in partnership with local associations, this festival animates the Esplanade des Fauvettes (rue de Paris), an emblematic public space in the town, for approximately one month with an entirely free program open to all.
From the Music Festival on June 21st to the fireworks display on July 13th, the festival features about ten events: open-air concerts with national headliners (blues, world music, French song), open stages for amateurs, equestrian medieval entertainment, family afternoons, a Portuguese sardine festival organized by the Association Portugaise Domontoise, and a popular dance on July 13th preceding the fireworks. A friendly formula that gathers several hundred to several thousand people each evening depending on the program.
The Summer Festival is managed by the Events Department of the City of Domont, in close collaboration with a dense network of volunteer associations. The Comité des Fêtes de Domont, a 1901 law association created in 1978 with about sixty volunteers, contributes to several events. The Association Portugaise Domontoise (APD) traditionally organizes the sardine festival and several catering services. The OMS (Municipal Sports Office) coordinates sports activities, the CSCD Georges Brassens (Domontois Social and Cultural Center) participates in the Music Festival and open stages, and the Association des pêcheurs (Fishermen's Association) provides catering for certain evenings.
This volunteer involvement, coupled with a solid municipal partnership, guarantees an authentic and local celebration, a far cry from professionalized events. On-site catering — sausages and fries, pizzas, Portuguese dishes, churrasco, grilled sardines, drinks — is run by the associations themselves, which contributes to the funding of their annual activities.
The Summer Festival stands out for the quality of its musical program: each year, the City brings several nationally or internationally renowned artists to perform for free on the outdoor stage of the Esplanade des Fauvettes. Over the editions, the festival has hosted blues, soul, Latin music, world music, French song, and jazz artists, as well as recognized headliners from the French circuit.
A typical concert evening format starts at 7:30 PM with catering opening, a local or regional opening act around 8:30 PM, and the main concert starting at 9:30 PM. The open stage, on the other hand, offers a different format where amateurs and beginner groups can perform for 10 minutes each (two songs), with the order of appearance drawn by lot, in a spirit of free expression encouraged by the municipality.
The evening of July 13th is the climax of the Summer Festival. Bastille Day is celebrated in Domont with a large popular dance animated by a concert (cover band or rock-pop group), followed by the fireworks display launched from the Esplanade des Fauvettes around 11 PM, itself followed by a dance party animated by a DJ until late into the night. The fireworks are set to a different theme each year (cartoons, 80s, superheroes, film scores, etc.).
Domont's position, on the hill overlooking the Plaine de France, offers a particularly favorable setting for the pyrotechnic show. Catering for the evening is provided by the Comité des Fêtes, the Association Portugaise, and several other local associations, with an attendance that makes it one of the biggest events of the year at the communal level.
The Summer Festival is an opportunity for residents of Domont and neighboring communes (Bouffémont, Moisselles, Andilly, Piscop, Ézanville, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt, Sarcelles) to gather in a festive setting. Domont, located on Transilien line H (Paris Gare du Nord — Persan-Beaumont), benefits from rail accessibility that extends the audience beyond communal borders.
The commune, perched on the first heights north of the Forêt de Montmorency, combines a residential identity, a dense associative network, and local heritage (Saint-Denis church, historic property of the Mont-Hubert estate). The Summer Festival actively contributes to maintaining this fabric of village sociability, despite a demography typical of the Parisian suburbs.
The 2026 edition of the Domont Summer Festival takes place from Tuesday, June 16 to Monday, July 13, 2026, on the Esplanade des Fauvettes (rue de Paris, 95330 Domont). The City and local associations offer nearly a month of entirely free outdoor entertainment, with an ambitious musical program mixing national headliners (Nina Attal), a festive Latin group (Kumbia Boruka), an amateur open stage, and a National Holiday ball and fireworks.
All events are free and open to all. Food and drinks are provided on site by partner associations (Comité des Fêtes, APD, OMS, CSCD Brassens, L'Oiseau Nuage, Association des pêcheurs).
