The Fête de Guillon-Terre-Plaine, a meeting point for the Avallonnais
In the green setting of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, the commune of Guillon-Terre-Plaine (89420) perpetuates its cantonal fair every year, a highlight of the social and cultural life of this rural area of the Yonne. This event brings together the inhabitants of the five former communes that merged in 2019 to form Guillon-Terre-Plaine: Guillon (central village), Cisery, Sceaux, Trévilly, and Vignes.
A friendly cantonal fair
The festival is held every last Saturday of August, a date that marks the end of summer and celebrates the harvest. The program includes:
- Musical entertainment with local bands and orchestras
- Gastronomic stands showcasing products from the Avallonnais and Morvan regions
- Refreshments and catering provided by local associations
- Games and attractions for families and children
- Market of regional producers and artisans
Guillon-Terre-Plaine, a commune in Morvan
Guillon-Terre-Plaine is a commune created on January 1, 2019, from the merger of five villages. It is located in the canton of Avallon, near the Morvan forest. The village of Guillon, which gives its name to the commune, hosts the town hall and main services. The Terre-Plaine refers to this bocage plateau characteristic of northern Morvan, a territory of hedgerows, livestock farming, and forests.
The association Bien Vivre Ensemble animates the social life of the commune and contributes to the organization of the local festival, with the support of volunteers and the municipality.
A region to discover
The Guillon festival is also an opportunity to discover this authentic region of the Yonne. Nearby are the remarkable sites of Morvan: the castle of Chastellux, oak and beech forests, fish-filled rivers, and the rolling landscapes that make this preserved natural region famous.
