The Fête de la Musique in Courbevoie: Eclecticism and Friendliness
Every June 21st, the city of Courbevoie offers an original and exotic Fête de la Musique, focusing on the diversity of musical cultures to provide its residents with an extraordinary festive day. In its parks and outdoor spaces, the city hosts ensembles with very different styles, creating a sound mosaic that reflects the human richness of this town in Hauts-de-Seine.
Parc de Bécon: The Green Jewel of the Festival
The Parc de Bécon, Courbevoie's green lung with its 14 hectares and century-old trees, is one of the emblematic venues of the Fête de la Musique. Its Pavillon des Indes, a historic building, hosts an annual Indian classical music concert: ragas, traditional instruments like the sitar and tabla, and vocals enhance this heritage space in a musical encounter between East and West.
The Théâtre de Verdure: Caribbean and Pop-Rock Music
Outdoors in the park, the Théâtre de Verdure hosts ensembles of various styles, with a particular fondness for Caribbean music. Bands like the K-Unit Band offer danceable covers of Caribbean classics — zouk, salsa, biguine — in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. Local pop-rock bands complete the afternoon's program.
The Courbevoie Municipal Harmony Orchestra
The Courbevoie Municipal Harmony Orchestra is one of the most appreciated ensembles at the local Fête de la Musique. Every year, this wind and percussion ensemble performs outdoors, usually at the Parc des Pléiades, for a high-quality concert accessible to all. Marches, overtures, film music, and popular arrangements make up a program that delights young and old alike.
The Choir Les Deux Chœurs and Choral Ensembles
Courbevoie's choral groups actively participate in the Fête de la Musique. The Chorale Les Deux Chœurs, an active musical association in the city, offers an annual choral concert showcasing the voices of residents who dedicate themselves to it with passion throughout the year. These choral performances add a human and moving dimension to the program.
Food Trucks and Festive Entertainment
The city complements the musical program with festive entertainment and food trucks, allowing the public to settle in comfortably and enjoy the concerts in a guinguette atmosphere. These family-friendly events, which usually start at 1:30 PM, transform Courbevoie's parks into true festive villages for the afternoon and evening.
Courbevoie, Between La Défense and the Seine
A town of 80,000 inhabitants in the inner suburbs of Paris, Courbevoie is a dynamic city adjacent to the La Défense business district. Its town center, tree-lined parks, and cultural facilities make it a vibrant area, where the Fête de la Musique naturally finds its place as a moment of social cohesion and cultural sharing.
