The largest city in Val-d'Oise celebrates every June 21st
Argenteuil, the most populous city in Val-d'Oise, celebrates the Fête de la Musique each year with a diverse program taking over the city's squares and parks. Open-air stages, free concerts, street bands, and street performances liven up the city center and neighborhoods on June 21st, in a festive and friendly atmosphere open to all residents.
Every June 21st, Argenteuil, a city of nearly 115,000 inhabitants and the capital of Val-d'Oise, transforms into an open-air music stage. The Fête de la Musique is celebrated there with the enthusiasm that characterizes this dynamic commune, a crossroads of cultures and generations.
The municipality organizes several simultaneous stages spread across the different neighborhoods of Argenteuil: the historic city center, Val-Notre-Dame, Val-d'Argent, and Les Coteaux. This decentralization allows every resident to enjoy concerts close to home, while promoting activity throughout the entire municipal territory.
True to the original spirit of the Fête de la Musique conceived in 1982 by Jack Lang and Maurice Fleuret, Argenteuil hosts an eclectic program that leaves no style behind: rock, jazz, world music, hip-hop, classical, electro, and traditional music follow one another throughout the day and evening. The cultural richness of Argenteuil, a cosmopolitan city with multiple influences, is naturally reflected in the diversity of the musical program.
The Argenteuil Municipal Conservatory of Music and Dance plays a central role in organizing the local Fête de la Musique. Students of all levels—from beginners to advanced classes—have the opportunity to perform in public, often for the first time, in a supportive and festive setting. Children's choirs, wind orchestras, jazz ensembles, and classical soloists make the city vibrate with their talent and infectious enthusiasm.
An Impressionist city par excellence, immortalized by the canvases of Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Édouard Manet who painted the banks of the Seine there, Argenteuil has an artistic and cultural tradition deeply rooted in its history. The Fête de la Musique is part of this heritage, making artistic creation and cultural sharing essential values of municipal life.
In accordance with the spirit of the national Fête de la Musique, all events organized by the city of Argenteuil are entirely free and accessible without reservation. Families, young people, seniors, music lovers, and the simply curious are invited to wander freely from one stage to another to create their own musical program for the evening.
The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Argenteuil will take place on Sunday, June 21st. Free open-air concerts, neighborhood stages, and musical entertainment are planned throughout the city. The detailed program will be announced by the town hall in the spring of 2026.
Argenteuil will once again host the Fête de la Musique on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Residents will be able to enjoy free concerts in the different neighborhoods of the city, with eclectic musical stages and performances by students from the municipal conservatory. The program will be unveiled in the spring of 2026.
