The popular festival of the green town at the foot of the Montmorency forest
Every summer, the Fête de Taverny brings together a series of free events organized by the municipality in this residential town in Val-d'Oise, nestled at the foot of the Montmorency forest. On the program: the Sunday concerts of Dimanches au Kiosque at Henri-Leyma Park (from April to October), the Fête de la Musique on June 21st, the Back to 1980 / Do You Remember festival in early July, the traditional Fête Nationale on July 13th with a thematic fireworks display at François Mitterrand Park, and open-air cinema in mid-July. A festive and family-friendly program that enlivens the entire Taverny summer season.
The Fête de Taverny is not a single event but the collection of major free events organized each year by the municipality during the summer season, from spring to early autumn. Coordinated by the City's events department, it offers a varied program — music, cinema, national holiday, family entertainment — that takes over the main green spaces of the commune.
Taverny, a town of 26,000 inhabitants in Val-d'Oise, belongs to the Val Parisis agglomeration community. Its location on the edge of the Montmorency national forest — the largest deciduous forest in Île-de-France with its 2,600 hectares of chestnut trees — gives it a natural character appreciated by families. This proximity to the forest fosters a culture of outdoor activities and outdoor festivities.
The Dimanches au Kiosque are the recurring event of Taverny's festive season. Every Sunday from 4 PM to 5 PM, from April 19th to October 11th, the bandstand at Henri-Leyma Park hosts a free open-air concert. The program is deliberately eclectic: pop, dub, groove, jazz, slam, traditional music, ensembles from the Conservatoire Jacqueline-Robin de Taverny. Local artists perform alongside professional groups invited by the cultural department.
In early July, François Mitterrand Park hosts a music festival dedicated to the music of the 1980s. This event annually gathers several thousand festival-goers over three evenings, with invited artists and tributes to the decade's greatest hits. Access to the festival is free, and food stalls are available on site.
On the evening of July 13th, François Mitterrand Park becomes the setting for Taverny's Fête Nationale. The evening generally begins around 8 PM with a DJ, followed by a variety concert at 9:30 PM, before the fireworks display launched around 11 PM. Each year, this pyrotechnic show is staged around a theme — "Fairy tales in cinema" in recent years — which makes it one of the most original fireworks displays in Val-d'Oise. The evening gathers several thousand Tavernoises and Tavernois on the park's lawns, in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.
In mid-July, open-air cinema is organized at François Mitterrand Park: a recent feature film is screened at dusk, preceded by an on-site catering service. Throughout the summer, occasional events complement the program: concerts, shows, children's workshops, nature outings on the edge of the Montmorency forest.
The Fête de la Musique on June 21st traditionally marks the kickoff of the major festive evenings in Taverny. Concerts take place in the city's public spaces, with an eclectic program ranging from rock to French variety, jazz, and world music. The Les Portes de Taverny shopping center also offers its own musical event.
Taverny's associative life is very active, with dozens of sports, cultural, and social associations participating in animating the city throughout the year. The Fête de Taverny is an opportunity for these associations to make themselves known, recruit new members, and share their passion with the entire population. The neighborhood festivals organized in different sectors — Vieux Taverny, Beauchamp, Val d'Oise — complement the central program with friendly local events.
The Taverny Festival 2026 offers a full program of free events from June to August: Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) on June 21st, Back to 1980 / Do You Remember festival from July 3rd to 5th, National Holiday and thematic fireworks on July 13th at Parc François Mitterrand, open-air cinema on July 18th, and Sunday concerts of Dimanches au Kiosque all summer long at Parc Henri-Leyma.
The 2026 edition of the Taverny Festival runs from June 21st to August 30th, 2026 (with an extension of Dimanches au Kiosque until October 11th). The municipality confirms a rich, free, and family-friendly program, spread between Parc Henri-Leyma, Parc François Mitterrand, and various public places in the city.
The festive season kicks off on June 21st with the Fête de la Musique. July concentrates the highlights: the Back to 1980 festival from July 3rd to 5th at Parc François Mitterrand, the National Holiday on July 13th with its thematic fireworks, then the open-air cinema on July 18th at the same park. The Dimanches au Kiosque punctuate the summer every Sunday afternoon at Parc Henri-Leyma, until autumn.
All events of the Fête de Taverny are free.
