Fête de la Musique in Rueil-Malmaison: the whole city in concert

Every year on June 21st, Rueil-Malmaison vibrates to the rhythm of the national Fête de la Musique. One of the largest towns in the Hauts-de-Seine, rich in its Napoleonic history and vibrant cultural fabric, celebrates the summer solstice with a multitude of free concerts scattered throughout its streets, parks, and squares.

A diverse city for a pluralistic celebration

The Fête de la Musique in Rueil-Malmaison draws its strength from the diversity of its stages and musical styles. The city deploys its concerts across several emblematic sites:

The Town Hall Forecourt

The main stage at the Town Hall Forecourt hosts professional and semi-professional bands. In 2025, the band HIT Night — five musicians and singers — offered a mix of French and international pop, rock, and funk in an electric atmosphere.

The Banks of the Seine

A musical evening on the banks of the Seine starts at 6 PM with a lounge atmosphere, before ramping up with more rhythmic music and an open-air DJ from 10 PM. This exceptional natural setting makes this stage one of the most popular for the Rueil music festival.

The Conservatory and Espace Jules Verne

The festival is also an opportunity to showcase local artists. Students and teachers from the Conservatoire Jean-Baptiste Lully and the Jazz and Contemporary Music Department of Espace Jules Verne perform in various locations around the city, offering wonderful moments of discovery.

The Château de la Petite Malmaison

Professional musicians, conservatory students, and amateurs gather at the Château de la Petite Malmaison for a whirlwind musical day. Place Line-Renaud and Parc Jacques-Chirac also host concerts throughout the day, including the band Popcorn Factory at 7 PM.

Places of Worship and Associations

The Emmanuel Gospel Choir (56 rue des Bons-Raisins) — a choir of 50 singers led by pianist Scott Sontag — offers a concert ranging from negro-spirituals to modern gospel. Classical music concerts are also organized in intimate and inspiring settings.

Privileged access to musical culture

Rueil-Malmaison is a city that invests heavily in musical culture, with its Conservatory and numerous educational institutions. The Fête de la Musique is the annual opportunity to make this investment visible and share it with the entire population, in the spirit of the great national festival founded in 1982 by Jack Lang.
