Jazz, disco funk and brass band in the loops of the Marne
Every June 21st, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, the largest municipality in Val-de-Marne by area, celebrates the Fête de la Musique with a festive and popular program. Spread across several areas of the town, the festival welcomes residents and visitors for a friendly, open-air musical evening, with free jazz, disco funk, and popular music concerts.
Place de Molènes is one of the highlights of the Saint-Maur Fête de la Musique. From the afternoon onwards, this area hosts the children's municipal band and local cultural associations for open-air concerts. The guinguette atmosphere gradually sets in, with the arrival of food trucks that set up on the square to offer food and drinks throughout the evening.
More than 12 food trucks are mobilized for the occasion, offering a varied gourmet choice to accompany the concerts. As part of an eco-responsible approach, water fountains are provided free of charge, and a cup deposit system encourages sustainable practices.
In the evening, it's at Square Beaurepaire that the Fête de la Musique is in full swing. The band SING GROOVE TOGETHER, a jazz and disco funk ensemble, takes the stage at 10 PM for a concert that gets the audience dancing until late at night. Jazz, groove, disco, and funk blend for a musical evening full of energy and conviviality.
The Fête de la Musique is also an opportunity to showcase young Saint-Maur musicians. The Children's Municipal Band of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés performs every year during the afternoon concerts, offering students and their families a moment of pride and sharing. This highlighting of school musical practice illustrates the town's commitment to artistic education.
Saint-Maur-des-Fossés integrates sustainable development principles into the organization of its Fête de la Musique. Free water fountains, encouragement to bring reusable bottles, and a cup deposit system make this event a model of a festive and responsible celebration.
With over 80,000 inhabitants and an exceptional area forming five loops of the Marne, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés is a residential town appreciated for its quality of life and its riverbanks. Its covered market, numerous shops, and dense associative life make it a vibrant and endearing territory. The Fête de la Musique naturally fits in as an event for conviviality and sharing.
