The Fête de Paron: a moment of conviviality for all residents
The town of Paron, with its approximately 5,000 inhabitants, is one of the most populated towns in the Sens agglomeration. Adjacent to the prefecture of the Yonne — Sens — to the northwest, it benefits from a dynamic associative fabric and a well-organized local life around its town hall and neighborhood associations.
Each year, as the Bastille Day on July 14th approaches, the Paron town hall and the festival committee organize their big local festival. Far from the pomp of large cities, the Fête de Paron embodies the warmth of village celebrations: friendly, accessible, rooted in republican traditions, and open to all ages.
A festive program around July 14th
The Fête de Paron program usually revolves around a central festive evening, organized on the esplanade or in the public spaces of the town. The atmosphere is that of a real neighborhood festival, with many highlights:
- Citizen meal in the open air: Paron residents gather to share a friendly meal, often in the form of a giant picnic or a catering option with food trucks, pizza, and a pop-up bar. An opportunity to build relationships between neighbors and meet friends and family in a relaxed setting.
- Concert: each year, a musical group is invited to perform for the Paron public. The style varies depending on the edition — rock, pop, French variety, world music — but the festive atmosphere is always present.
- Torchlight procession: at nightfall, the traditional torchlight procession goes through the streets of the town, bringing together young and old in a luminous and festive procession.
- Fireworks: the highlight of the evening remains the grand fireworks display at 11 p.m., which lights up the sky of Paron and neighboring towns, attracting many spectators beyond the town limits.
A free festival open to all
The Fête de Paron is traditionally free and open to all. Supported by the municipality and local associations, it reflects the town's commitment to social cohesion and living together. Young and old, families and seniors, gather in a relaxed atmosphere to celebrate Bastille Day and belonging to this dynamic town in the Yonne.
Paron, a town between city and countryside
Paron benefits from a privileged geographical location: bordering Sens, it offers its residents a residential quality of life while being just a few minutes from the historic center of the prefecture. The state forest, the banks of the Yonne, and green spaces contribute to the pleasant living environment of this town where life is good. The Fête de Paron reflects this identity: popular, accessible, joyful, and proud of its Icaunais roots.
