The iconic festival of Rochegaudon lake

The Fête du Lac de Chaillac is the flagship summer event of this commune in the south of the Indre department. Organized every first weekend of August on the shores of the Rochegaudon lake, this popular and free festival has brought together locals and visitors for decades for a weekend of conviviality and festivities by the water.

A remarkable natural site

The Rochegaudon lake, located at the exit of Chaillac towards Tilly, is a communal body of water where swimming is permitted and supervised in July and August. Surrounded by greenery and equipped with a developed beach, the lake offers an ideal setting for this summer festival. A motorhome area is also available nearby, allowing visitors to extend their stay.

A rich and varied program

The Fête du Lac offers a program of entertainment spread throughout the weekend. Saturday afternoon begins with a doublette pétanque tournament with 1,000 euros in prizes, accompanied by DJ entertainment and free activities offered by local associations: shooting, judo demonstrations, treasure hunts, giant board games, and traditional dances.

Producers' market and gastronomy

In the late afternoon, a local producers' market is set up by the lake, allowing visitors to taste and buy products from the Berry region. On-site catering and refreshments are available throughout the evening, offering food and drink in a friendly atmosphere.

Semi-nocturnal hike and concert

In the evening, a semi-nocturnal hike is offered with two routes to choose from (10 km and 15 km), allowing participants to discover the paths and landscapes of Chaillac at dusk. A concert then livens up the evening, creating a festive atmosphere by the lake while waiting for the highlight of the show.

The fireworks, a magical moment

At 11 PM, the grand fireworks display is launched over the Rochegaudon lake, offering a pyrotechnic show whose colors are reflected in the lake's waters. This magical moment is followed by a free popular ball that continues late into the night, beautifully concluding this festive day.
