The National Holiday in Drancy: two days of festivities at Parc de Ladoucette
Each year around July 14th, the town of Drancy (93700) offers its residents a two-day festive program, combining republican tradition and popular entertainment at the Parc de Ladoucette. This large landscaped park in the heart of the town is the ideal setting to bring Drancy residents together for moments of collective joy.
On the evening of July 13th, the park comes alive with the firefighters' ball, which takes over the fire station at 19-21 rue Roger Salengro from 9 PM to 4 AM. In parallel, at 9:30 PM, the château in Parc de Ladoucette is the backdrop for the traditional fireworks display that lights up the Drancy sky under the cheers of the gathered crowd.
July 14th: Republican picnic and festive concert
The day of July 14th in Drancy is marked by a colorful program. At 12 PM, Parc de Ladoucette hosts a republican picnic for those registered with the town hall. This participatory event allows residents to share a communal meal in the spirit of fraternity that characterizes the National Holiday.
In the afternoon, starting at 2:30 PM, the musical program takes over with a concert by Vanny Jordan y su Orquestra, offering an energetic mix of salsa, reggaeton, and cumbia that invites the public to dance. The presence of the Maritza Arizala dance academy enriches the show with colorful and festive Latin dance demonstrations.
Drancy, a town of memory and collective life
Drancy is a town with a rich history, notably linked to the Drancy Shoah Memorial, which recalls the role of the internment camp during World War II. This painful memory makes the celebration of republican values—liberty, equality, fraternity—particularly significant for the Drancy community.
With a population of over 70,000, Drancy is crossed by the Ourcq canal and benefits from a central geographical location in Seine-Saint-Denis. Its associative life is rich and varied, allowing for the organization of a high-quality National Holiday each year with the active participation of residents and local associations.
