Fireworks and popular entertainment at Parc André Villette
The town of Fresnes celebrates July 14th with fireworks and popular entertainment at Parc André Villette. A festive and family-friendly event, entirely free, bringing together the people of Fresnes in a republican atmosphere around the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Every year around July 14th, the town of Fresnes (94260) organizes its National Day to celebrate the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille and the fundamental values of the French Republic. The municipality, known for its important prison and its green spaces, offers a popular and free event to its approximately 27,000 inhabitants.
Parc André Villette is the main green space in Fresnes. This urban natural haven offers an ideal setting for summer festivities: open lawns, shaded trees, a clear area for fireworks. Every summer, this park hosts numerous cultural and sporting events that punctuate the lives of Fresnes residents.
For National Day, the park transforms into a lively festive space with food stalls, a bar, entertainment for children, and open-air music. Conviviality is at the heart of the event: residents bring their picnics, settle on the lawns, and enjoy a summer evening in a green setting.
The main attraction of the evening is the pyromelodic fireworks display, launched in the evening from Parc André Villette. This nocturnal show, lasting about 20 minutes, is carefully choreographed to a varied musical selection combining French songs, world music, and popular tunes. Multicolored sparks, cascades, and bursts illuminate the Fresnes sky, creating a striking visual spectacle enjoyed by the whole family.
The town of Fresnes also organized, for the Fête de la Musique in June 2025, a fireworks display at the same location, confirming the town's attachment to this type of popular spectacle. On July 14th, the fireworks take on an additional symbolic dimension by celebrating republican values.
As in many French towns, National Day in Fresnes is also an occasion for the firefighters' ball, organized by the local fire station. This popular tradition invites residents to gather in a festive and relaxed atmosphere, dancing to a variety of music. The firefighters, always popular with the public, open their doors and run the bar, creating a friendly relationship between the emergency services and the citizens.
Fresnes is a municipality in the south of Val-de-Marne, bordering L'Haÿ-les-Roses, Antony, Chevilly-Larue, and Rungis. Its geographical location, between the dense urban area of the inner suburbs and the more open spaces of the Longboyau plateau, gives it a mixed character between town and country. National Day, organized in its green spaces, perfectly illustrates this identity.
The 2026 National Day in Fresnes will be held with fireworks and entertainment at Parc André Villette. Program to be confirmed.
