The Fête de Châtenay-Malabry: The Coulée Verte in celebration on July 14th

Châtenay-Malabry is a town of 32,000 inhabitants in the Hauts-de-Seine department, known for its preserved living environment, the Coulée Verte — a green corridor connecting the towns in the south of the department — and its connection to great figures of French culture. It is here that the Maison de Chateaubriand, one of the great heritage homes of Île-de-France, is located. Every July 14th, the town celebrates its national holiday with a warm and popular atmosphere that brings together all generations.

The Coulée Verte, natural setting for the festival

The emblematic location of the Fête de Châtenay-Malabry is the Coulée Verte, a green corridor that crosses the town from north to south. Every July 14th, from noon onwards, picnic tables are set up under the trees, and residents gather for a communal lunch in this green haven. The town provides tables and benches to encourage this popular conviviality, and about fifteen food trucks offer their culinary specialties from around the world.

Activities and shows throughout the day

From the early afternoon, a festive program comes to life on the Coulée Verte. Musicians perform as they parade, creating a light and joyful atmosphere. A percussion group sets the rhythm and invites the public to dance, while giant stilt walkers in colorful costumes move through the crowd, much to the delight of children. Street artists offer giant bubbles, face painting, and games for the younger ones.

Evening concert

The day concludes on a musical note with an evening concert, starting at 7 PM. In 2025, the band Cherry Pop took over the stage for a concert of covers from the 1970s to the present day, making several thousand Châtenay residents dance until 11 PM. This moment of musical conviviality is one of the highlights of the festival each year, in a fraternal and festive atmosphere.

The Festival of Sport and Music: a summer complement

In addition to the July 14th festival, the town of Châtenay-Malabry offers a Festival of Sport and Music every June 21st in the heart of the town. This day brings together local sports associations — tennis, judo, badminton, cycling, fencing, dance — for open demonstrations, accompanied by concerts by conservatory students on Place Voltaire. A great way to celebrate the summer solstice, music, and sports with the family.
