The Bourgueil Wine Festival is a major oenological event held annually in March on Boulevard Heurteloup in Tours. Since its creation over twenty years ago, this event has become a must-attend for lovers of Loire red wines and is the first major wine event of the year in Touraine.

Bourgueil Wines Featured First

The Bourgueil Wine Festival brings together around forty winegrowers from the AOC Bourgueil and AOC Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellations each year. Visitors can taste and discover the wines from these renowned appellations for their expressive Cabernet Francs, including the first releases from the previous vintage. Rosés, spring reds, aging reds, and white Chenins from specific plots are represented.

The Commanderie de la Dive Bouteille

The official inauguration of the festival, at 10:30 AM, is led by the dignitaries of the Commanderie de la Dive Bouteille de Bourgueil et Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, a wine brotherhood guarding the viticultural traditions of the appellation. At 11 AM, the Saint-Vincent prizes are awarded to the winegrowers recognized for the best rosé, best spring red, best aging red, and best white Chenin of the appellation.

A Friendly Outdoor Event

Held outdoors on Boulevard Heurteloup, in the heart of Tours, the festival offers a pleasant and friendly setting for discovering Bourgueil wines. Access requires the purchase of a tasting glass for €3, which grants access to all stands. The event runs from 10 AM to 7 PM and attracts a large audience of tourists, locals from Tours, and wine enthusiasts.
