The National Holiday in Malakoff: a popular and festive event

Every year, the town of Malakoff (Hauts-de-Seine) brilliantly celebrates the National Holiday of July 14th. The festivities traditionally take place on the evening of July 13th, allowing residents to experience this moment of republican celebration in advance in a friendly and family atmosphere.

Over the years, the municipality has developed a rich program combining culture, live music, and popular traditions. The event is entirely free and open to all, true to the spirit of a popular and accessible July 14th.

The evening's program

The evening of July 13th in Malakoff generally begins in the early evening with the opening of food stalls and family entertainment. Concerts are scheduled in Parc Léon-Salagnac or in the town's emblematic squares, featuring local artists as well as invited headliners. In 2025, the legendary band Les Wampas was on the bill, accompanied by several artists from the local scene.

The highlight of the show remains the grand fireworks display, fired from an open space in the town, which lights up the Malakoff sky before thousands of spectators. After the fireworks, the popular ball extends the celebration into the night, with lively music and collective dancing.

A festive spirit rooted in the town

Malakoff is a particularly vibrant town in terms of culture and festivities. The July 14th tradition is part of a rich municipal calendar, which notably includes the major municipal festival "Malakoff en Fête" organized at the end of June. How to get there

Malakoff is ideally served by public transport from Paris and neighboring towns. Metro line 13 serves the Malakoff – Plateau de Vanves station and the Malakoff – Rue Étienne Dolet station, both a few minutes' walk from the main festival sites. RER B also stops nearby.

Parc Léon-Salagnac, the town's green lung located on Rue Victor Hugo, and Stade Marcel-Cerdan are the main venues for the festivities depending on the year. Place du 11 Novembre and other public spaces in the town are also used for entertainment.
