About Filmoramax
Filmoramax was the international short film festival of Lyon, founded in 2019 by Arnaud Mizzon in partnership with the OCS channel. The festival held five editions in Lyon's cinemas, with the final one taking place from September 30 to October 4, 2025. It featured around forty short films in international, regional, and student competitions, alongside masterclasses, round-table discussions, and €5 screenings. On May 22, 2026, the three co-founders voted to dissolve the company. The festival has ceased operations and there will be no sixth edition.
Filmoramax — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Filmoramax will not take place. On May 22, 2026, the festival's three co-founders, Arnaud Mizzon, Patrice Revaux, and Baptiste Brun, voted in an extraordinary general meeting to dissolve the company and place it into liquidation. There will be no sixth edition in Lyon from September 22 to 26, 2026.
2026 edition cancelled
Filmoramax will not return to Lyon from September 22 to 26, 2026. On May 22, 2026, its three co-founders, Arnaud Mizzon, Patrice Revaux, and Baptiste Brun, voted in an extraordinary general meeting to dissolve the company and place it into liquidation. Lyon Décideurs broke the news on July 22, 2026, with Tribune de Lyon and Lyon Capitale reporting it the same day. Arnaud Mizzon, the festival's president, has been appointed liquidator.
Baptiste Brun, the third partner and the only one based in Lyon, attributed the closure to his two partners moving away to Biarritz and Geneva, as well as the fatigue accumulated over previous editions. He wanted to continue: "We didn't see eye to eye. They wanted to stop, I wanted to carry on," he told Lyon Décideurs. He offered to take over the company, but the other two partners refused.
As of mid-August 2026, the filmoramax.com website remains online without updates: it still displays the dates for the 2025 edition, September 30 to October 4, and a call for film submissions for a 2026 edition that will not take place. No official statement announcing the end of the festival has been posted.
Slough Motion takes over the dates
Baptiste Brun has created a new entity, Slough Motion, whose first edition is being held from September 22 to 26, 2026, in Lyon, on the dates originally scheduled for Filmoramax. It is a separate festival featuring around thirty films in selection, an international competition spread over three sessions, and a regional competition. Screenings are taking place at the UGC Astoria, UGC Confluence, and UGC Part-Dieu cinemas: opening on September 22 at 7:30 PM at the UGC Astoria, and closing on Saturday, September 26, at 7:30 PM at the same venue. Several Filmoramax partners, including UGC and Air France, have followed Baptiste Brun to this new project.

Filmoramax: The International Short Film Festival in Lyon
Filmoramax was the international short film festival in Lyon, established in 2019 by Arnaud Mizzon in collaboration with the OCS television network.
An International Program
Each edition showcased a selection of approximately 45 short films across four categories: international competition (about twenty films), regional competition, student competition, and out-of-competition films, spread across ten screening sessions in various Lyon cinemas.
Juries and Guest Appearances
The jury consisted of actors, producers, and directors. In 2025, it was presided over by American actor Holt McCallany, known for his role in David Fincher's Mindhunter; Tom Holland attended the festival in 2023. Masterclasses and round-table discussions provided opportunities for the public to engage with film industry professionals.
Pricing and Venues
Screening sessions were priced at €5, while masterclasses, round-table discussions, and youth screenings were free. The festival was hosted at the Pathé Bellecour, Pathé Vaise, and UGC Part-Dieu cinemas.
Twelve Awards
At the conclusion of the festival, twelve awards were presented by the various juries, including the Grand Prix, Best Director, Best Acting, and Best Original Score, which was created to highlight the sound design of the short films. The festival was supported by the City of Lyon and the Lyon Metropolitan Area.
The End of the Festival
On May 22, 2026, the three co-founders of Filmoramax, Arnaud Mizzon, Patrice Revaux, and Baptiste Brun, voted in an extraordinary general meeting for the early dissolution and liquidation of the company. Consequently, there was no sixth edition in September 2026. The news was broken by Lyon Décideurs on July 22, 2026, and subsequently reported by Tribune de Lyon and Lyon Capitale on the same day. Baptiste Brun, who had sought to continue and take over the organization, was blocked by his two partners. He has since created a new festival, Slough Motion, with its first edition held from September 22 to 26, 2026, in Lyon.
