The major biennial exhibition fair in the heart of Le Puy-en-Velay
Heir to a tradition of over 70 years, the Foire Expo du Puy-en-Velay is the major commercial and festive event in Haute-Loire. Every two years, for six days, the Jardin Henri Vinay, right in the city center, welcomes a hundred exhibitors outdoors with free access. Home improvement, crafts, gastronomy, automotive, well-being, new technologies: the fair perpetuates the spirit of the great medieval fairs of Velay in a friendly and popular atmosphere, and is one of the rare exhibition fairs still organized in city centers in France.
The Foire Expo du Puy-en-Velay is part of the long tradition of the great medieval fairs that made the city famous. For over 70 years, this biennial event has transformed the city center of Le Puy-en-Velay into a vast space for discoveries, encounters, and commerce. Supported by the Foire Exposition Velay Auvergne (FEVA) association, chaired by Jean-Jacques Michel, the fair is organized by Centre France Événements, a subsidiary of the Centre France group specializing in organizing fairs, exhibitions, and public events since 1996.
Every two years, for six days, the magnificent Jardin Henri Vinay is transformed to host a hundred exhibitors. The fair is distinguished by its free and open-air nature, perpetuating the spirit of the great medieval fairs: free, open to all, and rooted in the heart of the city. Visitors wander among the stands in the exceptional setting of the public garden, with the silhouette of Notre-Dame Cathedral and the statue of Notre-Dame de France in the background. Now rare in France, this format of a fair in the city center constitutes the strong identity of the event.
The Foire Expo du Puy-en-Velay offers a complete overview of the regional and national commercial and artisanal offer, around 14 major themes:
The majority of exhibitors are local businesses from Velay and Auvergne, reinforcing the fair's role as a showcase for the regional economy.
Beyond the exhibition area, each edition of the Foire Expo du Puy-en-Velay offers a varied entertainment program: daily musical and festive parades, shows, demonstrations, workshops (children's make-up, caricaturists, balloon sculptors), sports initiations (archery, basketball, laser tag) and radio animations. A catering offer (partner food trucks, wood-fired pizzas, crepes, spit-roasted brioches) accompanies the visit. The friendly and festive atmosphere makes this event an unmissable family gathering.
With tens of thousands of visitors expected at each edition, the Foire Expo du Puy-en-Velay is a highlight of the department's economic and social life. It offers an exceptional showcase for local businesses and artisans, promotes exchanges between professionals and individuals, and contributes to the commercial dynamism of the Le Puy-en-Velay agglomeration. The event benefits from the support of the City of Le Puy-en-Velay, the Agglomeration Community of Le Puy-en-Velay and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, demonstrating its importance for the territory.

The Foire Expo du Puy-en-Velay celebrated its 40th edition from Wednesday, May 13 to Monday, May 18, 2026. This anniversary edition marked four decades of trade fairs in the heart of Le Puy-en-Velay, perpetuating a commercial tradition of over 70 years.
Inaugurated on Wednesday morning by Jean-Jacques Michel, president of the Foire Exposition Velay Auvergne (FEVA) association, alongside elected officials from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the City, and the Agglomeration of Le Puy-en-Velay, the 2026 edition presented a notable particularity: for the first time, the event entirely occupied the Jardin Henri Vinay, a green space right in the city center. Place du Breuil, formerly also an exhibition site, was dedicated this year to parking for exhibitor vehicles.
More than 100 exhibitors — artisans, traders, entrepreneurs, and creators — were present, including 27 newcomers. Local exhibitors represented over 70% of participants. Fourteen major themes were covered: housing, furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, construction (BTP), renewable energies, gardening, decoration, automotive, fashion, well-being, beauty, wine and gastronomy, new technologies.
Every day, local artists entertained the fair: musical and festive parades, shows, demonstrations, makeup workshops, caricaturists, balloon sculptors. Radio Scoop, a partner, was present with its mascot Scoopy on Wednesday, May 13 and Friday, May 15, and hosted an afterwork on May 13. For catering: a partner Regional food truck with tastings of local products, wood-fired pizzas, crepes and spit-roasted brioches in the aisles.
The next edition (41st) is expected in 2028, in accordance with the fair's biennial rhythm.
