Autumn festival dedicated to mushrooms and local products in Aumont-Aubrac
Each year, at the beginning of October, the village of Aumont-Aubrac on the Aubrac plateau hosts its famous Mushroom Fair. This autumn event, organized by the Association des Commerçants et Artisans Aumonais, celebrates the exceptional mycological richness of the Lozère forests and highlights local regional products.
The Lozère department is renowned for the abundance and diversity of its wild mushrooms. Porcini, chanterelles, black trumpets, hedgehog mushrooms, and many other species thrive in the forests of the Aubrac plateau, Margeride, and Cévennes. The Mushroom Fair celebrates this natural wealth and allows visitors to discover, buy, and taste these forest treasures.
Located on the Aubrac plateau, at the crossroads between Auvergne and Languedoc, the municipality of Peyre en Aubrac (of which Aumont-Aubrac is a part) offers a remarkable natural setting for this autumn fair. The village, easily accessible from the A75 motorway, attracts visitors from all over the region who come to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the flavors of the Lozère region.
The Aumont-Aubrac Mushroom Fair perpetuates an ancient tradition of celebrating the products of the land in Lozère. It contributes to the valorization of the territory's natural and gastronomic heritage, while offering local merchants and artisans a prime showcase to share their expertise.
By car: Aumont-Aubrac is directly accessible from the A75 motorway (exit 32). The fair takes place in the village.
