Classical music federation between Drôme and Ardèche
The Grand Classique Drôme-Ardèche (GCDA) is a federation of classical music associations created in December 2017 in Valence. Bringing together conservatories, music schools, ensembles, and performers from the Drôme and Ardèche departments, the GCDA offers a season of quality concerts and musical events, ranging from baroque to contemporary, in heritage sites and concert halls in the Drôme-Ardèche region.
Created in December 2017 on the initiative of musical associations and the Municipality of Valence, Grand Classique Drôme-Ardèche (GCDA) is a federation that brings together players in classical music in the Drôme-Ardèche region. Conservatories, music schools, professional ensembles, and performers share a common passion for learned music and work together to disseminate a high-quality musical offering.
The GCDA's programming covers a wide spectrum of classical music, from baroque to contemporary, including classical, romantic, and opera. Each season features concerts in various venues: churches, chapels, castles, theaters, and concert halls in Drôme and Ardèche. The 2024 edition notably hosted an International Workshop with the Odyssée Choir performing Monteverdi's Vespers of the Virgin, a Festive Bach concert, and a Baroque Hip-Hop show around Vivaldi.
The GCDA is committed to cultural mediation to make classical music accessible to the widest possible audience. Educational activities are carried out with schoolchildren and audiences distant from culture. The GCDA acts as a link between all local authorities, music schools, and performers who share a passion for classical music in the region.
The GCDA federates associations such as Drômans Cadences, Les Amis de l'Art Lyrique Drôme-Ardèche, and many other musical structures. By informing the public about the quality musical offerings and coordinating local initiatives, the GCDA contributes to the influence of classical music in a region rich in heritage and talent.
